About The Position

This role offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced game designer to help shape the future of a globally recognized horror-adventure franchise. You will contribute to designing immersive gameplay systems that blend tension, exploration, puzzles, and narrative-driven experiences. Working closely with cross-functional teams, you’ll transform creative concepts into engaging mechanics and memorable player moments. The position combines hands-on design work with strategic thinking, allowing you to influence both feature development and overall gameplay quality. You’ll collaborate with designers, engineers, artists, and storytellers in a highly creative environment focused on innovation and player impact. This role is ideal for someone passionate about interactive storytelling and building polished gameplay experiences using modern game development tools.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional game design experience, including at least one shipped title in a senior or lead design role.
  • Strong expertise in Unreal Engine, particularly with Blueprints for prototyping and gameplay scripting (C++ familiarity is a plus).
  • Proven ability to design and balance gameplay systems, puzzles, or scripted interactive sequences.
  • Experience working on narrative-driven, exploration-focused, or horror/adventure games.
  • Solid understanding of gameplay pacing, suspense, and player engagement mechanics.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to think strategically while managing detailed gameplay implementation and iteration.
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of owning features from concept through final implementation.

Nice To Haves

  • experience designing first-person exploration gameplay, environmental storytelling, or greyboxing levels to demonstrate mechanics.
  • prior experience mentoring junior designers or contributing to team-wide design standards.

Responsibilities

  • Design and own gameplay systems, mechanics, and interactive sequences that deliver engaging pacing, tension, and player-driven storytelling.
  • Translate creative ideas and narrative goals into practical, well-scoped gameplay designs ready for implementation.
  • Prototype new gameplay concepts using Unreal Engine 5 and Blueprints, iterating quickly to validate mechanics and player experience.
  • Collaborate closely with narrative, level design, technical design, engineering, and art teams to ensure cohesive gameplay and storytelling integration.
  • Contribute to the design and balancing of puzzles, environmental interactions, traversal systems, and enemy behaviors when needed.
  • Participate actively in playtesting cycles, providing and incorporating feedback to refine gameplay quality and player experience.
  • Produce and maintain clear design documentation to support development teams and ensure alignment across disciplines.
  • Mentor fellow designers and contribute to raising the overall design quality and consistency across the project.
