About The Position

The Senior Graphics Systems Administrator is responsible for the administration, assigned development, support, and optimization of Esko’s WebCenter, Share & Approve, Automation Engine, and Imaging Engine platforms. This role will manage workflows, user roles, systems integration, and ensure reliable performance across Esko environments. The ideal candidate has strong technical and development skills and understands the nuances of workflows in the packaging industry. This role’s priority is to empower the users of the tools, treating them as customers and deeply understanding their needs to ensure their job success through the delivery of high-quality, timely products. This role requires continuous education of the toolsets, bringing trends and ideas back to the user group for prioritization and needs assessments. In the absence of the role, identified resources and/or leadership in the Graphics areas would provide coverage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, software engineering, informatics, or you can prove comparable skills through experience.
  • 10+ years of experience with Esko WebCenter and Automation Engine in a system admin or developer role.
  • Strong listening and communication skills; works from user Point of view to solve problems.
  • Knowledge of J2EE, Cloud technologies (AWS), databases or web application security is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Esko workflow scripting, JavaScript, XML/XSLT, SQL, and/or REST APIs.
  • Solid understanding of prepress, print production, and packaging workflow processes.
  • Ability to quickly learn recent technologies, APIs, and tools.
  • Good analytical skills and self-initiative to learn recent technologies.
  • Excellent communication and project management abilities.
  • Ability to travel to other locations for implementation and support purposes.
  • Ability to self-motivate and partner cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Esko certification(s) in WebCenter or Automation Engine.
  • Experience with color management tools and file formats (PDF, TIFF, etc.).
  • Familiarity with agile project methodologies or ITIL service management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead partnership with users through established cadence of user focus groups to understand workflow pain points, areas of needed training, and support to prioritize workload.
  • Present and align with leadership on priority of development needs, ROI, timing of user and software development.
  • Maintain and configure Esko environments and integrations with other PPC business systems.
  • Review tool Innovation with Supplier and present and educate on new product concepts as part of a team. Create roadmap as needed to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Stay up to date on competitive market leading software technology, tools, and share knowledge.
  • Follow and help optimize installed processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Document software configurations and processes, including workflows, data mapping, database queries, technical specifications, system requirements, maintenance activities, etc.
  • Identify and drive adoption of relevant new tools, processes, and frameworks within the team in these areas.
  • Manage system updates, patches, and upgrades in accordance with IT standards.
  • Monitor system health and ensure high availability and performance.
  • Design, build, test, and deploy agreed upon processes and workflows to support prepress and production.
  • Customize as needed WebCenter projects, dashboards, metadata, and lifecycle workflows. Ensure user testing and training is executed.
  • Manage licensing, user accounts, roles, permissions, and access rights within WebCenter, Share & Approve and Automation Engine.
  • Enforce data integrity, version control, and compliance with SOPs and customer requirements.
  • Manage database structures and ensure clean data flows across systems.
  • Conduct maintenance routines, diagnose and resolve software errors, system conflicts, and workflow failures.
  • Document maintenance, technical configurations, workflows, change logs, and best practices.
  • Lead ongoing training of users as issues arise and share one-point lessons and best practice sessions quarterly.
  • Analyze workflow performance and propose improvements to enhance throughput, reduce manual work, and minimize errors.
