We are currently searching for a Human Factors Engineer to join our team in either Richardson, TX or Cedar Rapids, IA. We are seeking an individual with technical skills and personal leadership attributes to help support program development through the application human factors principles, standards, and best practices. The successful candidate will participate in all phases of program life cycle, utilizing system human factors methodologies as they apply in our systems engineering processes. Key responsibilities include the following: familiarity with military and industry standards, derivation of human factors and/or human systems, application of human capabilities and constraints for safe and effective design, and human factors engineering analyses.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
  • Active and transferable Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date with the ability to obtain Top Secret after start. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
  • Two (2) years of experience working with MIL-STD-1472 (DoD Design Criteria Human Engineering).
  • Experience as a Human Factors engineer or a systems/hardware/software engineer focusing primarily on the human engineering discipline.
  • Experience in developing human factors engineering analysis reports with a focus on anthropometric requirements.

  • Experience with systems architectures and designs
  • Experience with human capabilities and limitations and their impact on system design
  • Previous work experience with military aircraft-related missions, functional operation, performance specifications, and verification and validation (V&V) techniques
  • Exposure to Control Account Management (CAM) within the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) framework
  • Experience with agile development and model-based systems engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Cameo, DOORS, and/or Atlassian (ALM) tools (e.g., Jira, Confluence)
  • Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead, interact and build trust with team members from many different backgrounds, including engineering management, engineering teams, program management, business development, support groups, and subcontractors.

Responsibilities

  • Support design and development teams to develop, assess, and verify human factors related requirements for mission-critical systems
  • Work with industry standards, handbooks, and guidance such as MIL-STD-1472 (DoD Design Criteria Human Engineering) and ANSI/HFES 100 (Human Factors Engineering of Computer Workstations)
  • Lead the development of Human Factors Engineering Analyses and Human Engineering Design Approach Document – Operator/Maintainer (HEDAD-O/M) using Human Factors best practices for operator and maintainers
  • Work with 3D mannequin modeling tools and/or application for human factors design and analysis
  • Develop proposal language and determining appropriate BOE (basis of estimates) for bids and proposals during pursuit capture phase of a program for human systems integration programs
