What are we looking for? The Senior Laboratory Technician is primarily responsible for sample processing and preparation, laboratory analysis, reporting, ordering and inventory, and quality control activities. Shift/Schedule: Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, Typically 9:30am-6pm This position outline is a general guideline and does not represent all encompassing details. The position assumes that the incumbent has both the mental and physical requirements to carry out the above defined duties.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Science
  • 5+ years of professional environmental/ IH laboratory experience
  • 2+ years of bulk asbestos analysis via microscopy techniques required (both PLM and TEM experience preferred)
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, integrity
  • Ability to read, apply, and teach standards, methods, regulations, and SOPs
  • Strong communication and customer service skills

Nice To Haves

  • Geology Degree strongly preferred
  • 1+ years of laboratory leadership experience preferred
  • 1+ years of quality systems experience (ISO 17025, AIHA, NVLAP, ELAP preferred) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Sample Processing and Preparation
  • Utilization of a LIMS for data entry and reporting
  • QA/QC activities including but not limited to validations, SOP writing and compliance, calibrations, proficiency testing oversight, CARs, data review, and ensuring accreditation compliance
  • Laboratory analysis/ microscopy
  • Operation and maintenance of laboratory equipment, including a microscope
  • Reporting and client communication
  • Maintaining organization and cleanliness of laboratory area
  • Ordering and oversight of supplies
