About The Position

The Lead Senior Principal Trainer/Instructional Designer is responsible for the development and implementation of the training program for the respective applications in collaboration with applications and business lines. In collaboration with application teams and other Information Technology team members, assist in developing project plans and training calculators, monitor population to be trained, create content for training and collateral materials. Responsible for conducting employee educational classes and supporting organizational training needs including EMR implementations; will work collaboratively to promote the needs of the assigned division. Demonstrates excellent customer service performance in that his/her attitude and actions are at all times consistent with the standards contained in the Vision, Mission and Values of Covenant HealthCare and the commitment to Extraordinary Care for Every Generation.

Requirements

  • Associates degree required. In lieu of Associates degree, a minimum of two (2) years Healthcare, IT or finance/account receivable experience in field required and willing to obtain an Associates degree within three (3) years.
  • Three (3) years of Healthcare, IT or finance/account receivable experience required. Specific experience in the operational area for Epic application preferred.
  • Two (2) years leading a project, individuals, or complex, cross-departmental projects or two (2) years leadership experience required.
  • Must have a one (1) Vendor certification completed. Must obtain and maintain at least two (2) vendor certifications in specified applications and a badge related to supporting application(s) within twelve (12) months of hire or transfer.
  • Demonstrates functional knowledge of Epic, applicable third-party solutions, and Microsoft suite of products.
  • Expected to rotate on call with other team members to provide 24/7-hour emergency support for the department and may be expected to provide remote support, if needed.
  • Must be willing to spend significant time leading classroom training and must be able to present material clearly and with confidence.
  • Willing to travel overnight for educational classes and to work non-standard and/or extended hours during peak periods of implementation/upgrade activity.
  • Conduct training, both in classroom and virtual for all identified staff.
  • Mentor/coach new IT employees.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, business operations and workflows with an understanding of how they interrelate to other departments in the organization.
  • Strong computing skills and working knowledge of Word, Excel, Power Point, Visio, web browsing, issue tracking and email applications and/or a willingness to learn.
  • Strong project management skills with ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts, and maintain issues lists.
  • Must demonstrate a positive and enthusiastic attitude.
  • Must be a team player with the ability to work independently as well as in small or large teams.
  • Demonstrates the ability to resolve problems timely and effectively.
  • Must be detail oriented and have the skill for probing for information in order to fully understand the underlying needs that drive how the system should be built.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and coordinates team meetings
  • Leads Epic upgrades from the training perspective.
  • IT Leaders go to resource for communicating system changes, training expectations and change impacts that affect teams.
  • Mentors and provides support to other Principal Trainers and other Information Technology employees.
  • Leads with prioritizing workload within the training scope and may delegate issues for staff to resolve.
  • Conducts general or specialized educational sessions and trainings for employees, providers and application super-users related to new and existing systems/processes, including EMR implementations.
  • Facilitate maintenance and build of Epic MST environment and academic training consulting appropriate analyst for assistance with MST build.
  • Build, test and maintain the training environment. This includes eLearning environments (example: MST, Learning Home Dashboard, video library, academic training, etc.)
  • Analyzes training alternatives and makes appropriate training decisions.
  • Designs, validates and confirms new or modified training meet customer specifications, as needed.
  • Development and updating of training materials. Responsible for a cohesive offering of educational materials, in conjunction with the Office Support Analyst(s).
  • Assists in go-live training and supports Epic upgrades, enhancements and optimization initiatives.
  • Assists with training through the development of training tools and training of key staff.
  • Administers end-user proficiency assessments.
  • Responsible for communication plan and strategies for upgrades and projects.
  • May be required to perform software quality assurance testing.
  • Coordinate closely with system analysts and/or operations in order to develop proper training.
  • Collects feedback from end users and communicates to appropriate person on the EMR Team.
  • Assists with the definition and rollout of system enhancements and changes.
  • Actively participates in meetings, as needed, and leads at least one committee or is the lead for a specific area of a team.
  • Mentors and provides support to other Principal Trainers and other Information Technology employees.
  • Assists with prioritizing workload within the training scope and may delegate issues for staff to resolve.
  • Understands and translates business/department functionality into training support/needs
  • Stays current on vendor New Version Trainings (NVTs)
  • Possess an expert level of knowledge for the application(s) training on, supporting, or building training materials for.
  • Provides status updates on work to leadership.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as needed
