About The Position

A growing national law firm is expanding its Houston litigation practice and is seeking an experienced defense-side litigation attorney to join the team. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex litigation matters while maintaining a more balanced workload than many large law firms. You will manage cases from initial pleadings through trial, working closely with partners and clients to develop litigation strategies and deliver strong outcomes. The role involves litigation matters related to health law, premises liability defense, and employment litigation, representing institutional clients such as healthcare organizations, employers, and businesses.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of post-JD litigation experience
  • Experience in defense-side litigation
  • Experience in at least two of the following areas
  • Health law litigation
  • Premises liability defense
  • Employment litigation
  • Experience taking and defending depositions
  • Familiarity with Texas state and federal court procedures
  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active Texas Bar admission in good standing
  • Strong communication and analytical skills

Responsibilities

  • Represent healthcare providers, employers, and institutional clients in defense litigation
  • Manage cases through all phases of litigation from pleadings through trial
  • Draft and argue motions in state and federal courts
  • Conduct and defend depositions
  • Manage discovery and litigation strategy
  • Work closely with partners and clients to develop case strategies
  • Analyze complex legal and factual issues and present clear recommendations
  • Prepare for hearings and trials, with opportunities for first-chair trial responsibility

  • Base salary of $190K–$220K, with an uncapped bonus structure. Total compensation can reach $285K–$440K+ depending on billables.
