About The Position

Entegris is seeking a new Senior Manager, Automation and Controls to provide strategic and technical leadership for North America. This new leader will be responsible for shaping the future of automation across the region’s manufacturing network. This role defines the long ‑ term automation roadmap, leads capital planning for automation investments, and establishes the standards that govern electrical controls, robotics, system software, and integrated manufacturing systems. This leader will guide the analysis, design, and implementation of advanced automation solutions, partnering closely with external system integrators and internal engineering teams to deliver high ‑ performance systems across all North American manufacturing sites. A key responsibility is driving the exploration and adoption of emerging technologies that strengthen our Advanced Purity Solutions Division’s competitive advantage. By collaborating with Site Leaders, Engineering Managers, and Corporate IT, this dynamic new hire will ensure cohesive, secure, and future ‑ ready automation strategies. The role reports directly to the Senior Director of Continuous Improvement & Manufacturing Automation. This position will be based onsite in Billerica, MA, Chaska, MN, or Colorado Springs, CO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, Controls, Mechanical, Manufacturing, or related field); Master’s degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in automation, controls, or manufacturing operations with at least 5 years in leadership capacity.
  • T echnical expertise in PLC programming, SCADA systems, HMI development, and industrial networking.
  • Proven success in developing standardized automation architectures across multi ‑ site operations.
  • Strong analytical and problem ‑ solving abilities with a history of resolving complex technical challenges.
  • Advanced project management capability with experience leading multiple concurrent initiatives.
  • Exceptional leadership and coaching skills focused on talent development and cross ‑ functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all organizational levels.
  • Experience partnering with Engineering, IT, OT, and Supply Chain to ensure secure, integrated automation solutions.
  • Knowledge of safety and regulatory standards relevant to automation and controls.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies and digital transformation initiatives.
  • Certification in automation and controls (e.g., Certified Automation Professional, Control Systems Engineer) is a plus.
  • Experience with cybersecurity principles and best practices is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Define strategic automation objectives that align with business priorities, including measurable outcomes and compliance with global standards.
  • Oversee successful FAT and SAT execution for all Automation & Controls projects.
  • Develop and deploy standardized automation architectures across all plants to drive consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Lead root ‑ cause analysis and resolution of chronic automation and controls issues to reduce downtime and enhance productivity.
  • Partner with maintenance, engineering, and vendor teams to ensure seamless integration of new automation systems and technologies.
  • Provide expert technical guidance to plant teams, supporting troubleshooting, optimization, and continuous improvement of automation systems.
  • Coach and develop engineering talent across North America, fostering a culture of innovation, capability building, and technical excellence.
  • Monitor and evaluate emerging technologies in automation, controls, robotics, and digital manufacturing; recommend and implement best ‑ in ‑ class solutions.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements in all automation and controls activities
