About The Position

As a Senior Manager within BCG’s Center for Customer Insight (CCI) in North America, you will serve as a senior leader within a well-established and high-performing insights team. You will help scale impact by strengthening team governance, deepening our qualitative excellence, advancing intellectual property, and accelerating commercialization of our insights portfolio. You will operate across three primary dimensions: team leadership, expert case delivery, and commercialization/IP development. 1. Lead & Enable a High-Performing Insights Team Act as a senior leader and culture carrier within the North America CCI team, strengthening collaboration, quality standards, and professional development Contribute to team deployment, capacity planning, and skill development across qualitative and mixed-method expertise Coach and mentor managers and junior team members in research design, moderation craft, synthesis, and client storytelling Partner with other senior CCI leaders on capability building, training, and talent development priorities 2. Serve as a Senior Qualitative & Mixed-Methods Expert Guide case teams on optimal research design, balancing speed, rigor, and strategic relevance Lead complex, high-stakes qualitative and mixed-method research programs end-to-end; in particular, you will be seen as a go-to expert for sophisticated qualitative work that informs critical business decisions Act as a master moderator – trusted by senior BCG partners and capable of facilitating consumer discussions in front of C-suite audiences (1:1 interviews, focus groups, ethnographic immersions, digital qual communities, and other live research formats) Integrate traditional qualitative craft with AI-enabled and “NextGen” tools (e.g., LLM-assisted synthesis, large-scale text mining, digital ethnography, conversational analytics, persona bots) Serve as a senior expert embedded within client engagements, owning and/or guiding qualitative workstreams or full research modules and ensuring quality across research instruments, discussion guides, analytic plans, client-facing socialization materials, and final deliverables 3. Drive Commercialization & Insights Portfolio Expansion Act as a senior ambassador for CCI across North America – fielding requests, shaping demand, and advising case teams on initial research design options and team deployment models Support commercialization of CCI’s insights and solutions portfolio, including Insights Infusions, cutting-edge proprietary AI agentic tools, and advanced qualitative offerings Partner with commercial and topic leaders to identify repeatable use cases, codify methodologies, and package scalable offerings Contribute to proposals, pitch materials, and go-to-market narratives Develop thought leadership and intellectual property (e.g., original research studies, frameworks, diagnostics, publications, proprietary methods) that strengthen CCI’s market position Help expand awareness and adoption of modern research approaches within across BCG

Requirements

  • 7+ years minimum industry experience (consumer insights / marketing research) required; 10-14+ years of industry experience strongly preferred OR 5+ years management consulting experience with extensive experience in projects that leveraged qualitative customer research to address brand-related challenges; candidates with consulting experience preferred
  • Deep expertise in qualitative research methodologies, including extensive hands-on moderation experience (focus groups, IDIs, executive interviews, ethnography, online communities) in front of senior client audiences
  • Strong experience in scoping / designing mixed-method programs (qual + quant integration)
  • Demonstrated ability to design, execute, and synthesize full lifecycle primary research independently
  • Experience applying or integrating AI-enabled research tools (e.g., LLM-supported synthesis, large-scale text analytics, digital qualitative platforms)
  • Track record of contributing to proposal development, commercialization, or productization of research capabilities
  • Proven team leadership experience, including coaching, talent development, and performance management
  • Strong business acumen — ability to link customer insight directly to growth strategy and commercial impact
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders while working in a global collaborative team environment
