About The Position

As Senior Manager, Social Content Strategy, you will help shape how Walmart shows up in culture by leading the development of original‑to‑social, social‑first storytelling that goes beyond trend participation to establish a distinct and ownable brand presence. This role is critical to evolving Walmart from a brand that effectively reacts to cultural moments on social to one that proactively leads them. You will define Walmart’s unique channel presence, set strategic direction for original social content, and guide teams in creating culturally resonant work that drives meaningful engagement and long‑term brand impact. This is a highly collaborative, hands-on role for a forward-thinking strategist who has personally created social content end-to-end and brings the executive communication skills required to influence senior stakeholders and partners. You have a strong point of view on where social is going, and the credibility and confidence to help get the brand there. What you'll do... Lead the evolution of Walmart’s organic social content strategy across platforms including TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, Facebook, and X — with a focus on developing original, proactive social‑first strategies that establish Walmart as a cultural leader Define and champion Walmart’s original channel presence by creating ownable content frameworks, formats, and points of view that drive sustained cultural relevance beyond trend‑based participation Identify micro and macro cultural trends and determine Walmart’s unique role within them — clearly distinguishing when to react in real time versus when to proactively shape original social narratives or content series Partner closely with retail category marketers to support business and merchandising priorities, and with brand and campaign teams to activate full‑funnel initiatives through a social‑first lens Collaborate with internal creative teams and external agency partners to develop high‑performing, platform‑first creative — owning the social content process end-to-end, from strategic briefing and concept development through execution, launch, and performance analysis Establish and evolve internal and external working relationships and processes that unlock more integrated, efficient, and impactful social content planning and execution Provide social thought leadership across the organization, advocating for social‑first ideas and helping stakeholders understand how original social content can advance both brand and business goals

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or a related field, and 7+ years of experience in social media, content, or brand marketing (5+ years considered with exceptionally strong experience)
  • Deep expertise in social content and marketing strategy, with a strong understanding of platform nuances, emerging social trends, and creative best practices
  • Demonstrated experience personally owning social content development end‑to-end, with a clear understanding of what it takes to concept, produce, and execute original social content at scale
  • Proven success leading culturally relevant social content and campaigns that build conversation, engagement, and brand affinity
  • Strong immersion in culture and entertainment, with a clear point of view on what is relevant now — and what is coming next
  • Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to lead multiple projects simultaneously, from strategy through execution, while pulling in the right partners at the right time
  • Exceptional executive communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to articulate strategic points of view, influence senior leaders, and balance compelling storytelling with data‑backed insights
  • Demonstrated gravitas and ability to advocate for social‑first and culturally ambitious ideas while gaining buy-in from executive leadership, internal partners, and external agencies
  • Adaptable and resilient mindset, with the ability to navigate evolving social platform algorithms, tools, and priorities in a fast‑moving environment
