About The Position

This role is integral to the design of the next generation of Digit, aimed at meeting customer needs at a commercial scale. The Senior Manager of Electrical Engineering, reporting to the Director of Electrical Engineering, is responsible for managing, growing and inspiring our talented team of electrical engineers to help ensure the design and development of robust and reliable hardware. Instilling the importance of cross-functional collaboration and driving a sense of urgency is a must. This position is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Domestic travel of up to 15 percent is required.

Requirements

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Outstanding analytical and organizational skills
  • Experience in embedded controls, high-speed differential signaling, microcontrollers, memory buses, digital design, and power electronics
  • Excellent track record of designing PCBAs and understanding of PCB layout and design techniques for EMC compliance
  • Experienced in the use of hardware in the loop testing
  • Background in design using motors and motor controllers, with emphasis on BLDC motors
  • PLM and PDM experience
  • Broad design experience relevant to robotics, including embedded systems, high-speed signals, servo drives, Ethernet/EtherCAT, cameras, LIDAR, IMU, CPU/GPU integration, etc.

  • Advanced degree with robotics experience
  • 7+ years of successful experience working as an engineering manager
  • Prior use of Altium
  • Understanding of structured product development (requirements-driven engineering, documentation, rigorous verification, etc.)
  • Jira/Confluence experience
  • Engineering verification, test development and execution
  • High-speed design with industry standard interconnects such as PCI ExpressⓇ, USB, Ethernet, EtherCAT, etc.

  • Manage the hiring, development and performance of your team, team member loading, execution to schedule, design processes and design reviews
  • Promote and proliferate the use of best practices, design standards and high quality documentation
  • Delivering outstanding results within schedule and budget
  • Build strong relationships with peer managers, and role model cross-team functional collaboration
  • Ensure that the team has a safe and collaborative work environment
