About The Position

Reporting to the Senior Director of Events, the Senior Manager of Development Events will play a key role in executing Special Olympics Florida’s signature events, including the annual Special Olympics Florida Golf Classic presented by Publix and the Special Olympics Florida Golf Invitational at Walt Disney World. This role will also lead auction item procurement in support of fundraising across all state events. The Senior Manager will help deliver impactful, cost-effective experiences that achieve revenue goals, engage participants and donors, and build strong community partnerships that advance and amplify the Special Olympics Florida mission.

Requirements

  • 5+ years event management or related experience, including direct management of large-scale fundraising events
  • Skilled in project management
  • The ability to establish and maintain productive working relationships with a diverse group of corporate leaders, donors, volunteers, and staff members and maintain a professional attitude
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, as well as exceptional critical listening and thinking skills
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Regular attendance is required and must be willing to work after standard work hours and on weekends when necessary, including travel assignments across the state
  • Able to operate a vehicle and have a valid driver's license
  • Attendance required Mon-Fri, 9AM to 5PM, with nights and weekends as needed to execute events
  • Must have access to car or be able to transport materials to and from meetings and events
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end event planning and logistics for assigned events
  • Drive corporate sponsor engagement and revenue by activating and fulfilling high-value sponsorship deliverables
  • Support Senior Director with sponsorship invoices and payment collections
  • Monitor expense budget to ensure cost containment efforts are implemented and executed
  • Serve as on-site event manager, overseeing staff, vendors, and volunteers to ensure a high-quality participant experience and resolve issues as needed
  • Serve as main point of contact for vendors, volunteers and staff throughout planning process
  • Oversee the auction process across all events, including sourcing and curating high-value items to support Special Olympics Florida fundraising efforts, while ensuring strategic coordination of solicitations and thoughtful item placement
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to integrate communications, branding, and mission messaging into all event elements
  • Support additional key fundraising events and initiatives as needed throughout the year
