About The Position

Weyerhaeuser's Portfolio Strategy and Investments team is seeking a dynamic Senior Manager Portfolio Investments to join our high-performing group of industry professionals. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong financial or related background and a passion for timberland asset management to join a dedicated team of industry professionals, while also being able to make a significant impact within one of the leading timberland and forest products portfolios in the world. As part of our team, you’ll be directly involved in both influencing the strategy and optimizing the value of Weyerhaeuser’s timberland, real estate, and wood products assets. Together, our group combines our diverse perspectives from forestry, economics, timber operations, corporate finance, investment banking, geospatial analysis, and real estate to guide decision-making. This role will be based in our Atlanta, GA office. As a Senior Manager Portfolio Investments, you’ll be integral to the success of our team, collaborating with experts across the company to strengthen Weyerhaeuser’s competitive position. You will gain broad exposure to various facets of our business and be expected to take on key responsibilities, including:

Requirements

  • A BS/BA in Forest Management, Forest Economics, Finance, or a related field.
  • 7+ years prior experience in business, analytics, project management, with demonstrated experience leading and developing analysts and/or managers in analytical or strategy roles.
  • Strong business analytical skills with the ability to independently assess data sets, perform advanced valuation analyses, develop recommendations for strategic decisions, and evaluate merger & acquisition opportunities. Significant experience with financial concepts, valuation methods, market research, and portfolio analysis.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial modeling, and data analysis.
  • A results-driven mindset with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects. Takes ownership of complex tasks and responsibilities, consistently ensuring that outcomes align with business goals and meet critical deadlines. Delivers strategy recommendations to drive positive change across the enterprise.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior team members. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with all levels in the organization, including senior leadership, to influence outcomes.
  • A proactive, self-starter mindset with a demonstrated ability to work on a high-performing team and deliver quality work products under tight deadlines.
  • An inquisitive, solutions-oriented mindset with proven ability to develop innovative solutions to continuously improve tools and processes.

Nice To Haves

  • A Master’s degree or significant progress toward one is preferred.
  • Experience with GIS and database systems (e.g., ArcGIS, SQL) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Financial Analysis: Lead end-to-end financial modeling and key aspects of transaction diligence in support of strategic transactions.
  • Timberland Market Monitoring: Analyze and track trends in industrial timberland markets as well as competitor analysis, providing portfolio strategy recommendations.
  • Portfolio Benchmarking and Assessment: Lead the asset valuation and benchmarking of Weyerhaeuser’s portfolio, ensuring that our assets are accurately assessed and positioned.
  • Investment Thesis Development: Identify strategic growth opportunities and develop financial analysis and investment cases for strategic timberland acquisitions, dispositions, and related transactions.
  • Asset Value Optimization: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to evaluate alternative uses for timberland assets, developing consensus to maximize value. Engage with and educate others on valuation principles and approaches to enhance organizational understanding.
  • Project Oversight: Lead, mentor, and develop analysts and managers supporting portfolio strategy and investment initiatives elevating analytical outputs, ensuring consistency, rigor, and executive-level clarity across deliverables.

  • This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $129,145 - $193,858 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 20%25 of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.

  • Employees are able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan, which includes a paid company match in addition to our annual contribution equal to 5%25 of your base salary.
  • We provide eligible employees who are scheduled to work 25 hours or more per week with 3-weeks of paid vacation to use during your first year of employment. In addition, after being employed for six months, eligible employees begin to accrue vacation for future use. We also recognize eleven paid holidays per year, providing a total of 88 holiday hours
