About The Position

We are seeking an experienced analyst to join our Market Insights unit within our Enterprise Strategy department. The Senior Market and Competitive Intelligence Analyst role involves a high-impact leadership role to lead and own market and competitive intelligence initiatives. This requires consolidating multiple sources of information and insights into the most substantial and succinct findings, then presenting those conclusions either as written reports, presentations and in-person briefings. This role demands an individual who is comfortable with gathering and synthesizing data, as well as applying strategic, analytical and visionary thinking. The ideal candidate will view themselves as a strategist and generalist who is willing to creatively investigate and pursue emerging global trends and challenges for senior leadership plus a diverse set of internal clients to support effective decision-making, new-business growth, strategy development and client relationships. This position will interact with all levels of the company, including senior managers, technical SMEs and business development client leaders. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience and leadership in performing secondary market analysis on industry and government trends and market participants, with a strategic entrepreneurial approach to generating and creating value and impact. The work includes scoping requests, prioritizing tasks, reviewing and augmenting large datasets to perform data-driven analyses, conducting quantitative market analysis and forecasting, investigating relevant policies and regulations, determining directions and outcomes based on limited concrete data, plus understanding the current federal budgetary, contracting and policy environments.

Requirements

  • 10-12+ years of experience, preferably within a market/competitive intelligence group and/or with engineering and construction companies and/or in a B2B services industry.
  • All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

  • In depth knowledge and understanding of the engineering and construction industry and industrial infrastructure markets such as natural gas, LNG [Liquefied natural gas], renewables, transmission, distributed generation, hydrogen, ammonia, energy storage, environmental, water treatment, electric vehicles, data centers, manufacturing, petrochemicals and fertilizers, among others.
  • Demonstrated abilities and proven track record for leading and owning complex research initiatives end-to-end.
  • Advanced proficiency and adeptness in artificial intelligence and Generative AI programs and software, including strength ranging from general usage to modeling and other applications.
  • Adept with Excel, PowerPoint and other data and presentation software, with advanced capabilities in pivot tables, charting, visualizations and other data analytics.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking competencies, with the ability to distill large amounts of data into strategic analysis and meaningful insights.
  • Ability to connect insights and intelligence findings to business strategies, anticipate market shifts and make proactive recommendations as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.
  • Advance experience and expertise in financial analysis, including developing market forecasts and projections.
  • Exemplary project organization and coordination skills, with a keen attention to detail and accuracy, and an ability to prioritize tasks and execute multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Writing skills that are clear, concise and grammatically correct with the ability to take trends and insights and turn them into compelling stories.
  • Effective oral communication skills with demonstrated abilities to lead executive-level meetings, host conference calls and deliver presentations.
  • A self-starter and entrepreneurial results-oriented problem solver, with interpersonal skills oriented toward listening, collaboration, teamwork and resiliency.

Responsibilities

  • Own, lead and effectively execute market intelligence and research projects across a wide range of market segments, clients, solutions and technologies.
  • Direct and manage multiple research assignments while maintaining and progressing toward different deadlines, while also supporting business partners' time-sensitive needs.
  • Apply advanced analytical skills to mine, interpret and synthesize quantitative and qualitative data into intelligence and insights to create meaningful communications, including with data visualizations, dashboards, reports and presentations.
  • Champion and utilize GenAI tools and skills to assist in the intelligence research processes and to work more efficiently, effectively and productively.
  • Proactively create, manage and write compelling and impactful trend topics for market briefs that tell a story with clear and actionable connections to business decisions and implications.
  • Communicate and network with internal business partners to understand internal client needs, manage internal relationships and stay informed about external clients.
  • Develop and drive functional and operational expertise across multiple external information and database services, platforms, and industry relationships.
  • Demonstrate advanced aptitude in financial analysis to support strategic growth assessments by facilitating and delivering market plans with objective market forecast projections, along with anticipating market trends.
  • Oversee, own and track the competitive landscape process from research resources, industry sources, external databases and outside experts, and conduct knowledge sharing with relevant internal teams.
