About The Position

Sabre Systems is currently recruiting for a part-time Senior MBSE Systems Architect for support to the E-2/C-2 Airborne Command and Control Systems Program Office (PMA-231) at Patuxent River Naval Air Station in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will provide senior MBSE architecture leadership supporting PMA-231 airborne command-and-control mission systems and integration priorities. This role emphasizes model-backed integration clarity ensuring mission threads, interfaces, and behaviors are captured with enough rigor to support decisions, risk burn-down, and verification readiness across diverse stakeholders. This is a 20 hours/week requirement (0.5 man-year position). Location is on-site as required.

Requirements

  • Must have a have a master’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university or a bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field from an accredited college or university and an additional four (4) years of recent and relevant experience.
  • 10+ years MBSE and/or systems architecture experience on complex DoD mission systems
  • Demonstrated SysML modeling leadership (tool-agnostic, but must be hands-on and review-ready)
  • Strong interface/integration engineering instincts (ICDs, data flows, behaviors, dependencies)
  • Proven ability to translate stakeholder intent into model structure and engineering direction
  • Selected candidate must pass a background investigation
  • Demonstrated willingness and ability to operate effectively in environments with strong opinions and tough personalities, staying professional, calm, and outcome-focused while driving technical closure and maintaining model integrity.
  • Active Top Secret required; TS/SCI eligibility a plus.
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Experience producing decision-quality architecture views and model-backed technical arguments for leadership
  • Experience with airborne C2, tactical data exchange, mission system integration, or sensor/comm-centric architectures

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of model-backed mission architecture for airborne C2 capabilities.
  • Build and refine SysML model elements that capture system context, mission threads, functional allocations, and interfaces for EW/jammer-related capabilities in WBBB RIBS-P format.
  • Drive traceability and consistency across system elements, interface relationships, and verification intent; support model-based impact assessments for proposed changes.
  • Facilitate integration discussions with engineers and stakeholders by producing architecture views that remove ambiguity (system boundaries, data exchanges, behaviors, constraints).
  • Mentor engineers on model quality, modeling discipline, and stakeholder-focused view creation; support governance and publishing standards.
  • Produce briefings and architecture products suitable for program reviews and working groups.
