About The Position

Filamatic is seeking a customer focused engineer who thrives in a fast pace consultative environment to partner with customers from concept through delivery in the design, build, and deployment of industrial liquid filling and packaging machinery needed to meet their production goals. Solutions range from design/configure to order for standard machinery to full custom design solutions. We support many industries including biotech, diagnostic, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and cannabis industries. Our liquid packaging lines typically include bottle unscramblers, liquid fillers, pluggers, cappers, labelers, coders, and inspection systems. Our machines can dispense from microliters to gallons at speeds of up to 250 containers per minute. You will utilize your expertise in sizing/selecting multi-axis motion controls systems, electromechanical systems and pneumatics in engineering machinery that meet our customers’ automated filling and capping requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, in Engineering / Machine Design / Mechanical / Mechatronics or 10+ years equivalent experience.
  • Expert in sizing/selecting multi-axis motion control systems, electromechanical systems, and pneumatics.
  • Demonstrated ‘blank page’ design experience with ability to produce concepts for new sales applications.
  • Significant experience designing automated machinery, such as assembly, packaging, filling and/or continuous motion machines.
  • Exceptional concept and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Engineering and design principles, Tolerance Stack Up Analysis, Geometric Tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of FDA, ASME standards/regulations preferred.
  • 3D Design experience -Solidworks, or similar (Inventor, Creo, etc)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • The ability to control multiple projects of varying complexity from concept to completion.
  • Familiarity with machine shop/manufacturing practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of FDA, ASME standards/regulations preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design automated machinery that meets our client’s production requirements in filling, caping and labelling of their products, within the project timeline.
  • Lead development of solutions to complex customer challenges.
  • Identify commercially available machine components and keep current on industry trends and competitor products.
  • Perform blank page design and develop mechanical solutions to previously unsolved applications.
  • Incorporate engineering standards for reusable design components and standard parts and recommend changes to existing standards.
  • Create and update technical drawing packages and cost estimates.
  • Work collaboratively with other engineers to meet project goals.
  • Perform "Lead" or "Support" Engineer duties as assigned per project.
  • Interface with sales, manufacturing, assembly, and technical service as needed to provide engineering support.
  • Lead design review and knowledge-sharing discussions and provide constructive criticism.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with new and existing machinery in collaboration with the manufacturing/assembly teams.
  • Conceive and develop new product concepts.
  • Consult with internal leadership about design and performance expectations.
  • Provide guidance, supervision, and mentorship of other engineers as directed by management.
  • Develop new software applications/tools to improve engineering efficiency.
  • Define internal engineering procedures and requirements as directed by management.
  • Travel to customer facilities to resolve difficult field situations
  • Demonstrate a full knowledge of Filamatic product offerings and options and suggest solutions for commercial opportunities.
