About The Position

The Senior Mission Engineer will support the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, part of the Naval Sea Systems Command. NSWCDD serves as the Navy’s leading architect for complex naval warfare systems, delivering advanced combat capabilities through research, development, testing, systems engineering, and integration. The organization focuses on innovation in areas such as directed energy, digital engineering, and advanced combat systems to support the future fleet. The Senior Mission Engineer will provide Combat Systems and Mission Engineering support across the full systems engineering lifecycle for Naval Warfare Systems in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guide. Responsibilities include supporting NSWCDD V Department with advanced ship and combat system integration engineering, including: AEGIS modernization and in-service combat systems engineering DDG-1000 (Zumwalt-class) mission systems engineering Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) systems engineering Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), and Frigate combat systems engineering AEGIS Combat Direction System support Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems engineering Land-Based Test and Training Site (LBTTS) planning and activation Operations and force analysis Enterprise systems engineering support Modeling and simulation Combat system virtualization (including U.S. Marine Corps applications) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support Future surface Navy combat systems initiatives This role requires independent execution of complex systems engineering tasks, including functional and system-level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community coordination and review.

Requirements

  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in engineering, science, or a technical discipline
  • Four years of demonstrated relevant technical knowledge and subject matter expertise
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience with emphasis in one or more of the following: Combat Systems Cybersecurity Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) class AEGIS Integrated Combat Systems DDG-1000 Zumwalt-class destroyer Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense Weapon and sensor combat systems
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating engineering development activities and executing complex systems engineering efforts independently
