The Senior Mission Engineer will support the U.S. Navy at Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, part of the Naval Sea Systems Command. NSWCDD serves as the Navy’s leading architect for complex naval warfare systems, delivering advanced combat capabilities through research, development, testing, systems engineering, and integration. The organization focuses on innovation in areas such as directed energy, digital engineering, and advanced combat systems to support the future fleet. The Senior Mission Engineer will provide Combat Systems and Mission Engineering support across the full systems engineering lifecycle for Naval Warfare Systems in accordance with the Defense Acquisition Guide. Responsibilities include supporting NSWCDD V Department with advanced ship and combat system integration engineering, including: AEGIS modernization and in-service combat systems engineering DDG-1000 (Zumwalt-class) mission systems engineering Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) systems engineering Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), Unmanned Surface Vessel (USV), and Frigate combat systems engineering AEGIS Combat Direction System support Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) systems engineering Land-Based Test and Training Site (LBTTS) planning and activation Operations and force analysis Enterprise systems engineering support Modeling and simulation Combat system virtualization (including U.S. Marine Corps applications) Foreign Military Sales (FMS) support Future surface Navy combat systems initiatives This role requires independent execution of complex systems engineering tasks, including functional and system-level requirements analysis, requirements generation, and technical community coordination and review.
