We are seeking a Senior Medical Science Liaison (MSL) to join our Hematology team in the territory of S. Chicago, IL, IN, and KY! This role serves as the local medical voice of AZ in the disease area of interest and builds a local medical strategy to improve patient care and outcomes in their territory. The MSL is an established field-based professional with extensive scientific, clinical, and therapeutic area expertise responsible for providing medical and scientific support for AstraZeneca's oncology marketed products, new indications for current products, and compounds in development. What you’ll do Act as the local medical leader responsible for developing a tailored strategy to meet the AZ USMA priorities in the disease area, as well as the local specificities and patient needs. Develop strong working relationships in different external business settings (e.g. academia, hospitals, managed markets, private practices) Lead scientific exchanges with oncologists and key members of the MDT. Lead peer-to-peer scientific/medical interactions Gather insights on the treatment landscape, evolving healthcare environment and practice, barriers to optimal treatment and opportunities to improve outcomes of patients with cancer Discuss data and educational gaps with External Scientific Experts (ESEs) to ensure adequate use of our medicines and to inform our medical affairs strategy to address patient needs Stay current with scientific knowledge and attend relevant scientific meetings and conferences. Collaborate with Clin ops on trials from feasibility to execution

Requirements

  • Advanced scientific degree required (i.e. PharmD, MD/DO, PhD, PA or NP) in a relevant health science or clinical discipline
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in written documentation, one-on-one conversations and in small group dialogues
  • Ability to navigate within a matrix environment
  • 4+ years of MSL experience or relevant therapeutic area experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in discussing scientific content and context to multiple audiences
  • Strong understanding of clinical study design and protocols
  • Basic understanding of the Healthcare system, clinical trial methodology, statistics and regulatory environment
  • Excellent project management ability
  • Ability to travel (40-60% by car, train and plane domestic)

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate strongly preferred in a health science or clinical discipline
  • Relevant hematology/oncology clinical experience
  • The territory includes South Chicago down to Southern Illinois border, Indiana and active portions of KY.

Benefits

  • The annual base pay for this position ranges from $183,200 to $289,900.
  • Hourly and salaried non-exempt employees will also be paid overtime pay when working qualifying overtime hours.
  • Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity; eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program (salaried roles), to receive a retirement contribution (hourly roles), and commission payment eligibility (sales roles).
