MEANINGFUL WORK AND PERSONAL IMPACT: The Network Engineer shall act as the overall communications network engineer and architect for the MTC. Design, plan, implement, and oversee classified and unclassified MTC networks, both WAN and LAN, that support voice, data, and video services for exercises and events Manages MTC integration and use of networks owned and managed by external organizations, including NIPR, SIPR, CENTRIXS, tactical networks, and other networks as required Coordinates network design, requirements, and responsibilities with other MTCs and training sites, training units, and external network and communications organizations Design and establish network architecture, coordinate network plans, configure network equipment, and assist in installing equipment and circuits in support of distributed exercises Perform a variety of operational, analytical, planning and related tasks with duties concentrated in installing, configuring, maintaining and securing the network and associated devices Configure, document, test, troubleshoot, create, and/or modify network documentation related to the internal simulations network, to include Cisco firewalls, routers and switches for training exercises. Able to troubleshoot TCP/IP, multicast and UDP network traffic flows as well as tunneling encryption devices Responsible for applying system updates and quarterly patches/IAVAs, SRG/STIGS, configuring access control lists, analyzes, tests, and/or modifies network devices, and software programs, to provide pertinent solutions to system users, based on and related to user or system design specifications Responsible for planning, development, and execution of encrypted network connections to outside entities in support of constructive simulation exercises. Provide timely reaction, troubleshooting and resolution to any network related issues that arise. Monitor network performance and perform scheduled backups and recovery testing as necessary. Must be able to work with other members of the team and willing to cross train on like systems. Reviews and updates network requirements for accuracy, and compliance with applicable doctrine. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and perform shift work when required May serve as a people manger Participates in special projects as required
