About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Operations Manager who will oversee all operational aspects of a multi-service, fast-paced operating environment. This position is responsible for managing an annual revenue of over $15 million, a workforce of more than 200 drivers, a fleet of over 250 vehicles, dual service operations, potential remote lots, and the leadership of 4 to 6 Transportation Coordinators. About the Role Serve as the primary contact for school districts and clients, ensuring strong, collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in both public-school districts and the private school sector. Maintain effective and frequent communication with staff to ensure employees have the necessary resources to successfully complete daily operational tasks. Partner with safety leaders to promote and uphold a ‘safety-first’ culture across all operations. Conduct regular reviews of key operational metrics on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis to monitor performance and identify areas for improvement. Oversee the recruitment process by interviewing, hiring, and training new transportation coordinators and supervisors. Identify and develop internal talent to build a strong pipeline for future leadership positions. Prepare and manage monthly work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and operational efficiency. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the coach bus industry, including operational standards, regulations, and best practices. Collaborate weekly with the reservations team to ensure all coach buses are properly assigned and scheduled according to client requirements. Maintain appropriate staffing levels for drivers and monitors by fostering a positive and supportive work culture. Ensure all employees possess the proper certifications, training, and licensing necessary for their roles. Work closely with the fleet maintenance team to keep all school buses and coach buses operational and safe. Review billing and payroll each month for accuracy and compliance. Responsible for overseeing the Profit and Loss (P&L) of the location, ensuring financial targets are met and budgets are managed effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in operations management, business administration, or a related field.
  • At least five years of progressive work experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven experience managing hourly staff and being responsible for operational metrics.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technology platforms and systems.
  • Maintain a good driving record and a commitment to working in an environment fully dedicated to supporting students.
  • Self-motivated, exhibiting initiative and a strong work ethic.
  • Comfortable with early-morning hours.
  • Available for emergency calls during operational hours, including nights and weekends.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise and direct teams effectively.
  • Effective customer service and conflict resolution capabilities.
  • Detail-oriented and enjoys solving problems.
  • Maintains a high standard of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Shows composure and professionalism under pressure, especially during busy periods.
