About The Position

This job posting is for upcoming opportunities. We are seeking a Senior Operations Research Analyst with extensive expertise with the Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Nuclear Deterrence, Chemical, and Biological Defense Policy and Programs/Nuclear Matters (OASW(ND-CBD/NM)) within the Washington DC area to join our team. This position will support the Office of Nuclear Weapons Development and Assessments, providing advanced analytical support, technical consultation, and strategic assessments for nuclear weapons programs and policies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or 4 additional years of experience considered equivalent in cases where an individual does not possess the requisite degree
  • 5 years of related experience
  • Active Top Secret clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI clearance.
  • Strong analytical and research capabilities.
  • US citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in an Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD)/Joint Staff/Interagency environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of nuclear weapons systems and operations.
  • Nuclear weapons physical security and safety expertise.
  • Experience with nuclear weapons development programs and assessments.
  • Knowledge of DoD capabilities to Combat Weapons of Mass Destruction (C-WMD).
  • Advanced degree (Master's or PhD) in Operations Research, Physics, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with modeling and simulation tools.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills for briefing senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Nuclear Weapons Council (NWC) functions and subordinate committees, including maintaining personnel rosters, developing planning calendars, and providing comprehensive meeting support.
  • Prepare critical reports including the Nuclear Weapons Stockpile Memorandum, NWC Certification of NNSA Budget, Report on Stockpile Assessments (ROSA), and Report on Platform Assessments (ROPA).
  • Perform analyses and studies of nuclear weapons stockpile and infrastructure issues, reviewing technical analyses and providing strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Support Nuclear Posture Reviews (NPRs) and National Defense Strategy (NDS) activities through research, analysis, and briefing development.
  • Provide analytic support for the Defense Acquisition Strategy Group (DASG), including maintaining sensitive data, assessing requirements for life-extended nuclear weapons, and conducting military effectiveness analyses.
  • Coordinate Nuclear Deterrent Enterprise Review Group (NDERG) functions, track implementation actions, and develop compliance reports and briefings.
  • Brief the Secretary of Defense and senior leadership on nuclear weapons stockpile options, cost analyses, and force structure assessments.
