About The Position

We are looking for an outstanding Orchestration Engineer with a focus on Software Defined Networking (SDN) to help advance our automation transformation within the ET Engineering Core. You will play a key role in identifying areas of improvement in Engineering processes and tools, collaborating with other Orchestration Engineering team members, building automation solutions, and investigating cutting edge technologies that will help bring value. You will imbue agile thinking and DevOps techniques into the Engineering automation development process. An Orchestration Engineer within ET will design, build, and maintain solutions for orchestration and automation with an internal open source, automation-first approach. They will support other Engineers in their mission to deliver highly available and reliable services to the University. As with all members of the Enterprise Technology team, this role carries core responsibilities, including fostering a sense of belonging and cultivating a culture that is relational, visionary, and empowering. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five (5) years of experience appropriate to the area of assignment/field; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or training from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • One or more years of development experience using Python
  • Experience with design, engineering, and support of Enterprise systems
  • Experience with automating and managing system and software deployments
  • Experience with automation using open tools like Ansible
  • Experience with IT practices such as: Agile, ITIL, DevOps
  • Experience with DevOps tools such as Jira/Confluence, Jenkins, Ansible, and Git/GitHub

  • Familiarity with automation and configuration management tools (i.e., Ansible, SCCM, DSC, Terraform, Jenkins

Responsibilities

  • Working as part of DevOps teams on orchestration initiatives
  • Developing network automation using Python and Ansible for CI/CD
  • Participating in design and architecture sessions
  • Supporting engineers in their day to day operations
  • Participating in and building a network automation community of practice
  • Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit’s efficiency and overall performance.

  • Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.
