About The Position

Marriott International is looking for a motivated and innovative senior platform engineer to support the automation and management of our cloud infrastructure platform. This is an opportunity for an engineer with strong expertise in infrastructure as code (Terraform), DevOps, cloud technologies (AWS), and infrastructure automation to grow their skills in a collaborative, enterprise-scale environment. In this role, you will contribute to the development and maintenance of scalable infrastructure modules and patterns, support cloud database platform engineering, and help drive automation. You’ll work closely with architects, application developers who rely on our infrastructure, and other platform teams, taking ownership of your deliverables and communicating effectively to ensure alignment and success.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
• 6+ years of experience in an engineering role emphasizing infrastructure as code (Terraform), devops, and platform automation
• Strong experience with: Terraform (3-5 years of experience)
• DevOps automation tools and strategies (eg: Harness)
• Scripting languages (e.g., Python)
• Cloud platforms (AWS)
• Database as a Service technologies (Couchbase and AWS DBaaS Products)
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Ability to interface with users both in the context of providing support and collecting requirements
• Growth-first mindset characterized by a willingness to learn and step out of comfort zone in terms of skillset
• Demonstrated ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver high-quality results.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in policy as code frameworks (e.g., OPA, Sentinel).
• Experience working with observability tools like Dynatrace
• Experience in Go
• Experience developing in and using Harness pipelines
• Experience working in Agile or DevOps environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist in developing and maintaining Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure provisioning.
• Design and implement new automations and modules based on stakeholder requirements
• Drive operational maturity within the infrastructure automation platform
• Deliver automation to support self-service infrastructure provisioning and ongoing operations to be used by app dev and platform engineering teams within Marriott
• Troubleshoot issues and contribute to continuous improvement of platform stability through initiatives like release test automation for infrastructure modules and observability
• Work closely with application teams and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
• Communicate clearly and proactively, providing updates, documentation, and support as needed.
• Take initiative to learn new tools and technologies, especially in areas like observability (Dynatrace) and policy as code (OPA, OSCAL)
• Contribute to documentation, diagrams, and knowledge sharing to support team success.
