About The Position

Cenovus is seeking a Senior Process Engineer for our Superior Refinery who will serve as a fully qualified senior member of the Technical Services process engineering team. This role is primarily responsible for providing process engineering and technical support to plant operations. The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying production opportunities, implementing plant improvement projects, and troubleshooting production issues using innovative data analysis and solutions. This position will work closely with the Operations, Process Control, Reliability, Mechanical Integrity, Maintenance and Project teams. Other duties will include project support, support of the Management of Change process, HAZOP participation, developing operator training materials, and conducting operator training.

Requirements

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering
  • 8+ years of experience within an operating refinery or closely related work environment
  • Experience working with Process Safety Information and Operations Departments

Responsibilities

  • Gathers, analyzes, interprets, and disseminates pertinent unit operations data to develop solutions through creative thinking
  • Applies intensive and diversified knowledge of engineering principles and best practices to continuously improve value
  • Evaluates the economic feasibility of projects assigned and provides services during design, construction and startup
  • Makes decisions independently on engineering problems and methods to rapidly correct or improve process issues
  • Solves complex problems that encompass a range of challenges where the circumstances, facts or issues may be different from those that have been encountered in the past
  • Often acts as a subject matter contributor on a multi-disciplinary team or the lead on projects in own function
  • Acts as a resource to colleagues or other functions, and coaches, reviews, mentors and delegates work to lower level professionals
