About the position

Do you love reading and want to help customers find their best next book? The Books Data Quality team is responsible for measuring and enriching metadata of the Book catalog. We are looking for a Senior Product Manager (Technical) to own and drive the roadmap to better understand and categorize books we sell (such as the genre, setting, or audience), in order to improve our browse, search, and personalized experiences within Books. In this role you will work closely with product, engineering, data science to build and manage our end-to-end approach to developing a new relationship that links related books. The right candidate is highly analytical, will demonstrate strong business judgement and understand the role of engineering, science, and curation required to create high quality metadata at scale. The role is both strategic and operational, and is a great fit for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and can think big while diving into the details to execute flawlessly. Successful candidates will have a track record of delivering technology products in a distributed and matrixed organization, through strong product management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to motivate, influence and collaborate effectively with global stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Invent and manage product and feature concepts that help customers discover books they will love
  • Define product strategy and manage the product roadmap
  • Serve as primary day-to-day contact for all partner team requests related to Books data quality
  • Communicate with senior management and other business/technical partners on product decisions, key results and durable learnings, program status and risks
  • Operate with significant autonomy to deliver results and achieve the goals and objectives of both your team and the broader organization.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product or program management, product marketing, business development or technology experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition
  • Experience with end to end product delivery
  • Experience contributing to engineering discussions around technology decisions and strategy related to a product
  • Experience managing technical products or online services
  • Experience in representing and advocating for a variety of critical customers and stakeholders during executive-level prioritization and planning

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience owning feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product
  • Experience bridging technical and business teams to collect and refine requirements, prioritize incoming work requests, and ensure all committed work is delivered on time
  • Experience performing statistical analysis of data using SQL, Excel and other tools
