The Role: The Senior Product Operations Manager (Level 7) is part of Global Product Operations, powering how Global Product works by combining business data & insights, customer & market insights, and product practices to operationalize GM’s Product Operating Model. You will help teams across Global Product connect strategy → roadmaps → execution → KSIs/KPIs, partnering with Product Management, Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Vehicle Autonomy, Battery/Propulsion & Sustainability, Program Management Operations (PMO), Quality, and Finance.

Requirements

  • 5+ years combined experience across: Product / Research / Sales / Business Operations, Product Management, Program/Portfolio Management, UX Research, Customer Insights, Inbound Product Marketing, Finance and/or Management Consulting (or equivalent internal strategy/ops) focused on operating model, process, analytics, or transformation.
  • Experience with business data & insights: Defining and tracking KSIs/KPIs and operational metrics Using BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) and insights to drive prioritization and continuous improvement
  • Experience with customer & market insights: Partnering with CX/Research/Quality to bring customer, quality, and competitive signals into product decisions Turning qualitative and quantitative data into clear implications for strategy and roadmaps
  • Proven ability to shape and run product processes & practices in a large, matrix environment.
  • Effective communication and facilitation skills; comfortable working across Product, PMO, Engineering, Design, Manufacturing, Vehicle Autonomy, Battery/Propulsion & Sustainability, Quality, and Finance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in automotive, mobility, or complex hardware–software–services ecosystems.
  • Familiarity with GM processes and constructs (e.g., Software Product Operating Model, GVDP/GSDP, PMO Portfolio Process, resource forecasting, LTP / 5-year planning).
  • Experience standing up or scaling Product Operations / Product Enablement capabilities (playbooks, training, knowledge management, tooling standards).
  • Hands-on experience with product tools (Jira/Jira Align/Jira Product Discovery or equivalents, Confluence/SharePoint); plus, expert-level master of road mapping software.
  • Proven track record of managing an “Operating Rhythm” (quarterly planning, OKRs).
  • Experience building “Voice of the Customer” programs from scratch.
  • Ability to translate qualitative feedback into quantitative business cases.

Responsibilities

  • Product Insights Define and maintain core KSIs/KPIs and product/portfolio health views.
  • Build and manage dashboards and reports (e.g., Roadmap Central, performance scorecards) in partnership with Analytics, Finance, PMO, and Customer Experience (CX).
  • Integrate customer, quality, and market signals (e.g., Voice of Customer, JD Power, usage, NPS, competitive insights) into planning and decision forums.
  • Practices & Processes Translate strategy into clear, repeatable ways of working aligned to the Product Operating Model and Global Vehicle [Software] Development Process (GVDP/GSDP).
  • Design and run operating rhythms (portfolio/roadmap reviews, planning, budgeting and resourcing cadences, product health reviews).
  • Define and maintain artifact standards (PRDs, PRFAQs, outcome-oriented roadmaps, success metrics) and drive adoption.
  • Tooling & Systems Act as a key partner for the product tooling stack (Jira, Jira Align, Jira Product Discovery, Confluence, SharePoint, roadmap and forecasting tools).
  • Establish taxonomy and tagging standards so roadmaps, resourcing, and KPIs are consistently connected.
  • Identify and deliver workflow and tooling improvements that reduce administrative burden.
  • Enablement & Change Develop and deliver training, onboarding, and guidance on operating models, artifacts, tools, and data.
  • Lead change management for process and tooling updates (communications, office hours, feedback loops, adoption tracking).
  • Support communities of practice and function as a thought partner on operating model, governance, and organizational design.
  • Integrated Hardware–Software Coordination Help synchronize long lead vehicle and hardware timelines with iterative software and services delivery.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Vehicle Autonomy, and Battery/Propulsion & Sustainability so constraints and dependencies are visible and actionable in product plans.
  • Translate field and service insights into prioritized work across software, hardware, and manufacturing partners.
