About The Position

Avion Solutions Inc., an employee-owned company, is seeking candidates for a Senior Production Engineer to support the Integrated Fires & Mission Command (IFMC) Project Office. This position is located in Huntsville, AL.

Requirements

  • BA / BS or MA / MS in an Engineering discipline.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience supporting defense systems production, manufacturing, or production engineering activities.
  • Experience supporting DoD acquisition programs, including systems transitioning into or operating within the production phase.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting production readiness activities, engineering reviews, production configuration assessments, and manufacturing oversight.
  • Experience analyzing engineering and production data to identify performance trends and recommend improvements.
  • Working knowledge of systems engineering concepts and production engineering methodologies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing reports, technical documentation, and briefings for senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and provide technical leadership within a collaborative team environment.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen and able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Must be able to travel up to 20% of the time.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting Army Air and Missile Defense programs or similar complex defense systems.
  • Experience supporting hardware production lines, integration facilities, or defense manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with engineering change management, production validation activities, and production readiness reviews.
  • Experience supporting Government Program Management Offices or Major Defense Acquisition Programs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide senior production engineering support to the IFMC Project Office Performance Management Directorate for systems in the production phase of an Army Air and Missile Defense program.
  • Coordinate production program management efforts and requirements to ensure comprehensive planning and documentation supporting established production schedules.
  • Monitor production performance trends and proactively identify potential issues affecting hardware and system integration activities.
  • Conduct technical data analysis and communicate program findings through technical reports, briefings, white papers, and memorandums.
  • Participate in key program engagements with the prime contractor, including program reviews, production readiness activities, and failure investigations.
  • Develop and implement production strategies and plans to ensure system components and software meet required performance and integration standards.
  • Develop production metrics and monitoring approaches to assess hardware manufacturing and integration activities.
  • Perform trend analysis across laboratory, assembly, contractor, and production environments to support program oversight.
  • Provide independent assessments and recommendations during production and pilot line validation activities.
  • Evaluate engineering changes, waivers, and deviations to assess impacts to producibility, product integrity, and production performance.
  • Review production-related contract deliverables and provide technical assessments to support Government acceptance.
  • Provide mentorship and technical guidance to other production engineers in areas including milestone planning, production engineering processes, and contractor production management.
  • Assist with the development of Statements of Work (SOW) and support technical evaluation of contractor proposals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
