About The Position

The Senior Production Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of manufacturing operations within an assembly environment to ensure safety, quality, delivery and cost objectives are consistently met. This role oversees multi-shift production teams, drives continuous improvement initiatives and ensures compliance with ISO standards and company policies. Acting as a key liaison between production, engineering, supply chain and quality teams, the Senior Production Manager fosters a culture of accountability, efficiency and operational excellence while supporting new product introductions and strategic growth initiatives.

Requirements

  • Proficient in ERP systems (Oracle, SAP or other equivalent systems) for production planning and inventory control
  • Strong knowledge of assembly lines and work cell manufacturing and processes
  • Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Skilled in data analysis and KPI management, including building and interpreting performance dashboards
  • Familiarity with preventive and predictive maintenance strategies to minimize downtime
  • Prior experience supporting new product introductions and scaling from pilot runs to full production
  • Communication– Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with coworkers, along with internal and external customers and key stakeholders
  • Delegation – Ability to delegate responsibilities to direct reports and hold them accountable on assigned deliverables and deadlines
  • Decision Making – Ability to select best course of action from various alternatives to achieve desired outcomes. Effective decision making is crucial for guiding a team towards their goals
  • Interpersonal Skills– Build strong relationships with others to promote a supportive and engaged workplace
  • Leadership – Ability to guide, inspire, and influence others to achieve common goals. This includes setting a vision, making strategic decisions, and motivating a team to work collaboratively
  • Strategic Thinking – Ability to anticipate future trends, envision long-term goals, and develop plans to achieve them
  • Bachelor’s degree required, engineering degree preferred
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment required including previous management experience leading production organizations
  • Minimum 4 years of production management experience required
  • Demonstrated leadership capability, including the ability to guide teams, influence outcomes, or lead initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Lead production operations to achieve on-time delivery, quality standards
  • Manage a multi-shift team, including hiring, coaching, performance management, problem resolution and maintenance 5S/ preventative maintenance (PM) standards
  • Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) daily; proactively address performance concerns via root cause analysis and 8D methodology
  • Remove production obstacles, coordinating staffing, training, equipment maintenance and supplies
  • Drive quality assurance, working closely with cross-functional teams – Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality and Customer Service
  • Oversee bill of material (BOM) and work-in-progress (WIP) inventory
  • Support budgeting, cost forecasting and control for volume, scrap and labor
  • Facilitate new product introductions, pilot runs to volume scaling
  • Spearhead continuous improvement and project accountability, ensuring deliverables and timelines are met
  • Perform management duties: hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and manage production staff; address performance and resolve issues
