About The Position

The Senior Programs Specialist will play a multifaceted role in advancing the Women’s Justice Institute’s (WJI) mission by providing direct care coordination for system-impacted women before, during, and after incarceration. Simultaneously, they will serve as a key member of the WJI leadership team, helping to design, build, and implement key initiatives, maintain data/performance tracking systems, and support policy advocacy initiatives.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in care coordination, case management, or program implementation, specifically working with justice-involved women.
  • Demonstrated interest, knowledge and experience supporting programs, policies, freedom campaigns, research and initiatives regarding women involved in the criminal legal system.
  • Demonstrated expertise in trauma-informed care and gender-responsive practices.
  • Strong organizational skills with experience in maintaining, tracking, and reporting data/performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication skills, with experience in policy advocacy or coalition building.
  • Excellent writing, research and analytical skills, with experience in development of policy and position papers, research, reports and presentations.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and data management software, as well as ability to develop compelling PowerPoint presentations; ability to navigate video conferencing systems (Zoom/Teams), and Google Workspace; and strong ability to use complex case management systems and to build performance reports.
  • Ability and willingness to work with the WJI team to support events at the WJI Reclamation Center, including setup of the room, light lifting of furniture, chairs and equipment, event management, guest support and light cleanup.
  • Must have regular access to a vehicle with proper insurance, and willingness and ability to meet clients in the community, run errands and attend events.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Minimum education requirement includes Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Criminal Justice, Public Policy, or related field (or equivalent professional experience), and a Master’s Degree in Social Work or a related field is preferred.
