About The Position

This role supports a Technical Project Manager on a data engineering project with an AI adoption program at Texas HHSC. The position involves managing cross-functional coordination, tracking deliverables, supporting platform and data engineering initiatives, and ensuring alignment between business, engineering, and AI stakeholders. The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in data analytics, cloud platforms, and AI/ML adoption, combined with strong communication and organizational skills.

• Leading technical projects or programs in data analytics and cloud environments
• Defining project scope, objectives, milestones, timelines, and success metrics
• Managing cross-functional teams, vendors, and complex project timelines
• Experience with project budgeting, forecasting, resource planning, and financial status reporting
• Proactive leadership style with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Data & Analytics Expertise
• Leading data architecture, data modeling, and data warehousing initiatives from planning through delivery
• Managing business intelligence, big data, and analytics projects in complex enterprise environments
• Supporting healthcare data initiatives; familiarity with standards such as FHIR, CCDA, and HL7 is a plus
• Working knowledge of SQL and database technologies to support project planning, estimation, and issue resolution
• Working knowledge of cloud platforms, data systems, or enterprise applications
• Communication & Collaboration
• Strong communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts for business and executive audiences
• Strong collaboration skills to work effectively with data engineers, developers, analysts, and business partners
• Documentation & Tools
• Strong documentation skills for project plans, charters, schedules, and lessons learned
• Proficiency with project management tools such as Jira, Azure DevOps, MS Project, or Smart sheet
• PMP certification is required and must be noted on the resume. Proof of certification may be requested.
• Must be local to Austin, TX area (within 50-mile radius)
• Hybrid schedule: 3 days remote, onsite required Wednesdays & Fridays
• In-person interview required — remote interviews will not be accepted

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with healthcare or other regulated environments including compliance, security, and data governance
• PMP, PgMP, PMI-ACP, SAFe, or similar project management certification
• Healthcare industry experience
• Fundamental understanding of information management principles, IT processes, SDLC, architecture, and enterprise technologies
• Strong consulting and facilitation skills
• Customer-focused communication skills with ability to engage all levels of the organization
• Proactive leadership with strong attention to detail and ability to work independently
• Supporting AI, advanced analytics, or digital transformation initiatives at the program or project level
• TOGAF, Cloud Solution Architecture, or Azure/AWS/GCP certifications preferred

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, coordination, requirements gathering, business analysis, and specifications development for moderate to complex business solutions
• Support the Technical Project Manager in driving a data engineering and AI adoption program
• Manage cross-functional coordination and track deliverables across business, engineering, and AI stakeholder groups
• Monitor and report project status, risks, issues, and dependencies to leadership and executives
• Ensure alignment between business objectives and technical delivery across data pipeline and platform initiatives
• Drive project implementation and system delivery in compliance with HHSC standards and timelines
