About The Position

Stantec is seeking a Washington state based, highly motived and technically proficient, Senior Project Manager with a diverse background in the Transportation Infrastructure sector to join our growing team of Transportation design engineering professionals. The role of Senior Project Manager is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of our strong and collaborative team of industry leading professionals, working both independently and together on projects of various sizes and complexities. This individual will be responsible for managing the relationships with some of our most valued Transportation clients, providing exceptional customer service. This position will provide project level design leadership on high profile and transformative transit, roadway and highway design projects. You will play a pivotal role in expanding our existing client and project base to position Stantec to acquire new business. At the project level, you will be expected to apply your mature knowledge of the Infrastructure market to manage projects to ensure successful delivery, resource efficiency, and provide innovative solutions.

Requirements

  • Experience leading the design and construction support of complex transportation projects
  • Must have a thorough understanding of roadway, highway, and transit Infrastructure development and construction in the Washington state area.
  • Must be a self-motivated individual possessing strong English written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must exhibit attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Must be able to coordinate engineering requirements with planning and landscape architecture requirements.
  • Must work well in a team environment and have a collaborative approach.
  • Must have valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Able to travel within the region.
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • Licensed as a Professional Engineer in Washington state
  • Minimum of 10 years of project management experience in Washington, including ability to organize and supervise the work of other engineers, designers and sub-consultants, related to residential, industrial and commercial development projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with alternative project delivery (APD) projects across a region or nationally is preferred.
  • Experience with the role of deputy design manager, design manager, and or quality manager on APD projects is preferred.
  • Experience with clients such as Washington Department of Transportation, and Sound Transit is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and AutoCAD Civil 3D is an asset.
  • Strong ability to develop business and promote business relationships
  • Strong project planning and delivery experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate business development efforts, including market research, client relationships, developing leads, and securing contracts
  • Work in a manner to protect the health and safety of Stantec employees, clients, and the public by following company health, safety and security guidelines and policies
  • Prepare project proposals and attend pre- and post-proposals meetings/interviews
  • Establish, nurture and support the cross-discipline project design processes, communication and best practices, in collaboration with local and business center (BC) leadership
  • Attract, grow, and retain high-quality staff, in collaboration with HR Business Partner, local and BC leadership
  • Coach and develop team members to achieve high standards in meeting organizational goals
  • Liaise with clients, agencies and others to obtain and determine project requirements, permits, and approvals. Ensure that client needs are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Lead and be responsible for the preparation of Engineering drawings, cost estimates, and preliminary and final reports. This may include technical review and professional stamping of engineering design drawings. It also includes the preparation of construction specifications and tender documents.
  • Perform project management duties on major projects, including client and sub-consultant coordination; making presentations to planning commissions, contractors and public agencies; attending client meeting; and visiting job sites
  • Maintain project budgets, prepare estimates, establish cost controls and maintain project schedules and quality control; prepare monthly billing
  • Organize and supervise the work of a technical team with regards to the planning, design, processing and construction support of civil engineering projects; provide direction to guide projects to successful completion
  • Provide internal peer review of designs by other land development engineers/technologists. Coordinate designs with stormwater management engineers and incorporate stormwater designs into land development drawings.
  • Ensure projects meet applicable specifications and standards as per the governing municipality and adhere to Stantec’s QA/QC program.
  • Be the main client contact on the project(s).
  • Collaborate with local area leadership, including Project Managers, to ensure the office meets its operation goals and adheres to Stantec’s Project Management framework
