What We’re Looking For Lucid is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer – Vehicle Reliability Engineering (VRE) to help ensure vehicle systems and components meet long‑term reliability, durability, and robustness targets across the full product lifecycle. This role focuses on identifying, understanding, and mitigating reliability risks through data‑driven analysis, validation, and cross‑functional problem solving. This position is based at our Casa Grande, Arizona facility and partners closely with Engineering, Manufacturing, Supplier Quality, Field Quality, and Service teams to drive improvements that prevent repeat issues and improve vehicle lifetime performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a STEM discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in the automotive industry or a comparable complex, regulated manufacturing environment
  • 5+ years of experience in quality, reliability, validation, or vehicle engineering roles
  • Strong experience with root cause analysis, failure analysis, and structured problem‑solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5‑Why, Ishikawa)
  • Experience working with reliability, durability, validation, or field performance data
  • Demonstrated ability to influence Engineering and cross‑functional partners to drive preventive and corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Kaizen and structured problem solving
  • Ability to develop and communicate data‑driven reliability improvement plans
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting technical findings to non‑technical stakeholders
  • High level of accountability and comfort working through ambiguity and incomplete data
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; experience with engineering or analysis tools (e.g., CAD, PLM, test data systems) is a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt)
  • A demonstrated history of creativity and innovation in improving product reliability or robustness

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a Vehicle Reliability Engineering owner, supporting reliability performance across design, launch, production, and field phases
  • Analyze vehicle reliability, durability, and usage data to identify emerging trends, systemic risks, and long‑term failure modes
  • Lead or support root cause analysis for reliability‑related issues using test data, field data, validation results, and teardown evidence
  • Partner with Design Engineering to influence design robustness, component selection, and validation strategies
  • Support and review reliability and durability validation plans, including test coverage, acceptance criteria, and failure analysis
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing and Supplier Quality to ensure reliability risks are addressed through design or process improvements
  • Translate field and warranty learnings into preventive actions for future builds and product updates
  • Participate in vehicle and system‑level reviews to assess reliability readiness at key program milestones
  • Own and communicate reliability‑related quality metrics, risks, and mitigation plans to cross‑functional teams and leadership
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing repeat failures and improving vehicle lifetime quality
  • Travel up to 25%, occasionally on short notice, to support testing, suppliers, or cross‑site reliability investigations
