About The Position

The Senior Quality Specialist plays a key role in supporting the Quality organization through ownership of the Product Release program and helping ensure finished goods and bulk lots are released in a timely, compliant, and efficient manner. This includes reviewing production records, coordinating with contract manufacturers and laboratories, and escalating quality concerns when needed. In this role, you will lead product reviews, partner cross-functionally with Product Development and Operations, and collaborate closely with external business partners such as manufacturers and suppliers to resolve quality challenges. You will also contribute to maintaining and improving our Quality Management System (QMS), including supporting NCRs, CAPAs, deviations, supplier quality initiatives, consumer complaints, and SOP development.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field—or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience in a Quality Assurance role within food, dietary supplements, or a related regulated industry.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with Quality Management Systems (QMS), CAPAs, Change Control, cGMP, FDA regulations, regulatory compliance, consumer complaints, risk assessment, and project management principles.
  • Travel: Ability to travel up to 10% as needed.
  • Work Location Expectations: This role requires multiple days per week conducting finished goods and bulk lot reviews at HQ, as well as periodic in-person spot checks and product investigations when required by business needs.

Responsibilities

  • Own the Product Release program, including reviewing batch records and managing release documentation and archives.
  • Escalate out-of-specification (OOS) results and critical quality issues to the broader Quality team in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate finished goods release with contract manufacturers and laboratories, proactively identifying and resolving potential delays.
  • Lead finished goods and bulk product reviews, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
  • Partner with Product Development, Operations, and Quality leadership to resolve release-related challenges.
  • Conduct in-person spot checks and investigations of physical products at HQ or other locations, as needed.
  • Support Quality Management System compliance by reviewing and helping manage NCRs, CAPAs, and deviations - particularly those related to packaging components.
  • Support supplier qualification activities, including evaluation and approval of packaging component suppliers.
  • Assist with consumer complaint management, adverse event investigations, traceability exercises, and recall readiness activities.
  • Participate in internal audits and support general Quality team operational tasks, including invoice processing and other QA initiatives.
  • Contribute to QA compliance efforts by developing, updating, and training on SOPs as needed.
