About The Position

As a Senior Scientist, you will combine high‑level scientific expertise with operational ownership. You will independently design and execute complex analytical studies, drive method readiness for process work and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for key chromatographic and electrophoretic methods. You will also act as an Operations Manager—owning weekly task assignment and coordination to ensure clear priorities, balanced workload, and reliable coverage for the PA lab.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree w/ 7-9 years of experience, or Master's degree with 4-6 years of experience, or PhD with 2-4 years of experience
  • Knowledge of bioprocess engineering, analytical science, or manufacturing sciences generally attained through studies resulting in a B.S. in Biochemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biotechnology, or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated mastery of SOPs, cGMPs, ALCOA+ data integrity principles, and the ability to work effectively within a regulated biopharmaceutical manufacturing environment
  • Strong experience supporting and interpreting data from biologics manufacturing processes, including upstream and downstream unit operations
  • Proven competency in the successful execution of process technical transfer, including analytical readiness for engineering runs, PPQ campaigns, and commercial manufacturing, with the ability to assess risk and define mitigation strategies
  • Demonstrated expertise with chromatographic and electrophoretic analytical technologies, including but not limited to: SEC‑UPLC, CE‑SDS (reduced and non‑reduced), RP‑HPLC / peptide mapping, iCIEF, glycan analysis (HILIC), ELISA‑based assays (HCP, rProtein A), and titer methods
  • Hands‑on experience with Waters UPLC platforms (ACQUITY Classic, H‑Class, Premier) and associated detectors (UV, FLR), with working knowledge of method robustness, system suitability, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Experience using and managing data within Empower, ELN systems (e.g., Symyx), LIMS/DevLIMS, and Spotfire
  • Demonstrated competency in project and operational management, including prioritizing multiple concurrent assignments, balancing routine manufacturing support with project deliverables, and driving work to completion under tight timelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with strong interpersonal and facilitation abilities to influence at all levels of the organization and effectively lead scientists and multi‑disciplinary teams

Responsibilities

  • Analytical leadership: Independently design, execute, interpret, and report complex analytical studies supporting process characterization, and investigations.
  • Serve as an SME for assays such as CE‑SDS, SEC, RP‑HPLC/peptide mapping, iCIEF, glycan analysis, and titer methods; lead readiness/qualification activities for assays entering major campaigns.
  • Method troubleshooting & improvement: Diagnose and resolve method performance issues (e.g., robustness, variability, system suitability) and drive continuous improvement to enhance data quality, efficiency, and reliability in PA
  • Operations management: Own weekly task assignment across PA scientists/analysts; lead weekly coverage meetings to review incoming studies, volumes, timelines, and capacity; review sampling plans and apply scientific judgment; coordinate communications on priorities, special testing needs, and sample drop‑offs; escalate bottlenecks and rebalance work with group leads as needed
  • Cross‑functional collaboration: Partner with Process Development/Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and MS&T sub-functions to ensure analytical readiness for tech transfer/scale‑up; represent PA on project teams, communicating risks, results, and study implications.
  • Documentation & data integrity: Author high‑quality technical memos, qualification packages, and study reports; ensure data capture, review, and verification align with PA practices, ELN/DevLIMS workflows, and BMS data‑integrity expectations
  • Demonstrated continuous‑improvement mindset (assay robustness, efficiency, data quality
