About The Position

Amazon Leo is Amazon's low Earth orbit satellite network. Our mission is to deliver fast, reliable internet connectivity to customers beyond the reach of existing networks. From individual households to schools, hospitals, businesses, and government agencies, Amazon Leo will serve people and organizations operating in locations without reliable connectivity. Export Control Requirement: Due to applicable export control laws and regulations, candidates must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (i.e., current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum. Amazon's Leo Satellite Engineering and Mechanical Development team is at the forefront of satellite design and development. We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and implement automated test systems for verifying satellite hardware and components. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience writing firmware to control electric motors, interface with a wide variety of sensors, and communicate with larger system architectures. This role requires the ability to work effectively both independently and within multidisciplinary teams, including close collaboration with satellite hardware engineering groups.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
  • 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or equivalent
  • Knowledge of Python and/or C++ programming
  • Experience in embedded development in C/C++, or experience with full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations

Responsibilities

  • Author functional requirements, design verification plans and test procedures
  • Execute product designs which meet the requirements
  • Build and test electromechanical subsystem prototypes and integrated systems
  • Support product releases to manufacturing and customer deployments
  • Work efficiently to support fast-paced schedules
