About the position
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to build backend systems that perform at scale. The ideal candidate is adept at writing robust, extensible, and efficient code and has a knack for solving sophisticated problems with simple solutions. Our stack consists primarily of Python on the backend and React on the frontend. We see technology as a means to solving problems and getting things done and thus prioritize talent over existing skill sets. We are building AI based applications and work extensively with LLMs. We use Google Cloud hosted infrastructure services including Google App Engine, Kubernetes, MongoDb, RabbitMQ, BigQuery, and Cloud SQL. Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop performant, reliable, and high-quality systems at scale.
- Ensure system stability, including monitoring key metrics and helping resolve issues.
- Plan and execute effectively on large architecture projects with complex dependencies.
- Work cross-functionally with product managers, designers, data scientists, and other engineers to deliver high quality products.
- Work effectively in an Agile environment to deliver high quality software against aggressive schedules.
- Communicate technical ideas, proposals, and plan effectively through presentations, technical specs, blog posts, and documentation.
- Actively mentor to decrease the ramp-up time of new and existing team members.
- Help build our engineering culture and design architecture for our web product, being an early team member.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Software Engineer, ideally in MarTech, AdTech, or eCommerce industry.
- Expertise in Python development.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based infrastructure, preferably GCP.
- Expertise in MongoDB or similar NoSQL databases. Experience with data modeling and relational & non-relational datastores.
- Expertise in building scalable micro services.
- Experience with messaging brokers such as RabbitMQ.
- Experience building AI powered applications and working with LLMs is a huge plus.
- Experience excelling within a high-growth, startup environment or building out a new team/function within a larger company is preferred.
- Experience in leading and mentoring teams, with a strong focus on high-quality code and software engineering best practices.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to lead the development of complex features.
- Proven track record of successfully delivering sizable projects that span multiple teams and multiple quarters that produce significant results and impact overall business success.
- Excellent communication skills, ability to collaborate across teams and influence key stakeholders.
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
