We're seeking experienced engineers and leaders who are passionate about scaling cloud-native platforms, enhancing resiliency, and simplifying operations for internal and external users. As a Senior Software Engineer, Backend you'll have the opportunity to influence and scale infrastructure that supports critical workloads across Capital One, contributing to major technology transformations. Enterprise Platforms Technology (EPTech) comprises many of Capital One's most important enterprise platforms. We play an essential role in establishing practices for building technology solutions across the company, while also delivering capabilities that exemplify those practices.
Responsibilities
- Create a scalable platform solutions that power cloud-native infrastructure, focusing on automation, resiliency, and operational excellence.
- Work with engineers to drive initiatives as a senior individual contributor, supporting a culture of innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
- Own technical roadmaps for infrastructure capabilities such as smart scaling, regional failover, container orchestration, and platform observability.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, and cross-functional partners to build and operate reliable, efficient platforms.
- Stay current with technology trends and experiment, learn, and share knowledge within and outside the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 3 years of professional software engineering experience (Internship experience does not apply)
Nice-to-haves
- 5+ years of experience in at least one of the following: Java, Python, or Go
- 2 + years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service
- 3+ years of experience in open source frameworks
- 2+ years of experience in Agile practices
