About The Position

As a software engineer, you will work on a specific project critical to Google’s needs with opportunities to switch teams and projects as you and our fast-paced business grow and evolve. As a Software Engineer for Cloud Quotas you will participate in the technical decision making, design and implementation of our service to reduce customer friction while using Quotas. You will participate in different initiatives creating new ways on how customers can understand quotas, from correlating them to having an app-centric view. You will be solving problems around reliability, scalability, and making sure our platform is prepared for the next 10 years. You will work closely with UTLs and PM partners on defining product specs, project implementation, helping set technical direction, coaching junior team members, and providing feedback to other team members. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
  • 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
  • 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as C++ codebases, and front-end experience including JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML, CSS or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
  • 3 years of experience working with two or more from the following: Unix/Linux environments, REST API development (throttling, latency, quota mgmt.), distributed and parallel systems, information retrieval, storage, networking, developing large software systems, or security software development.
  • Experience of building enterprise software products.
  • Experience in one or more general purpose programming languages (C++, Java and Go).

Responsibilities

  • Write and test product or system development code.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency). Collaborate with other Google Cloud Platform (GCP) teams to drive alignment and requirements.
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
