Our mission is to empower Dialer's goal through responsible on-device AI innovation and robust platform infrastructure, enabling all teams to deliver exceptional and protected calling experiences. Our goal is to build the world's leading on-device AI platform for calling, enabling seamless integration and powerful experiences across Dialer. Our team is powering intelligence of android calling features, including scam detection, a Gemini-nano based feature announced in 2024 Google I/O. On the way to launch, our team is doing end-to-end model development (including LoRA fine-tuning).

The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products.
• 3 years of experience with full stack development, across back-end such as Java, Kotlin and Android Development.
• 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Experience developing accessible technologies.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction and create technical roadmap on how to scale Protection AI to more users in android ecosystem.
• Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to refine product roadmap/timelines.
• Scope, design, develop, and launch infrastructure (full stack) support fast protection AI feature development in android ecosystem.
• Scope, design, develop and launch existing Calling protection AI features in broader android ecosystem.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
