Job Description U.S. Bank is seeking a full-time Senior Software Engineer Hogan Systems (Multiple openings) in Irving, TX. The Senior Software Engineer Hogan Systems is responsible for the design, development, testing, operating and maintaining software products. This role creates optimal design adhering to architectural best practices; consider scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs. Specific duties include: (1) work within the Hogan Mainframe environment; (2) work with Hogan Banking Account Products (DDA, LOC, TDA, RPM); (3) implement a thorough understanding of a feature, the users impacted, the flows impacted and feature's purpose; (4) implement technical designs that consider dependencies, failure states, maintainability, testability and ease of support; (5) consider scalability, reliability and performance of systems/contexts affected when defining technical designs; (6) analyze user requirements and defining functional specifications using agile methodologies; (7) develop and implement complex mainframe Hogan applications using Cobol, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CICS, MQ; (8) participate in project planning sessions with concerned stakeholders to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solutions; (9) enhance the applications using Endevor, TSO/ISPF, and CA7; and (10) develop and implement test validations of the applications, including Unit testing, SIT and UAT testing. This position utilizes the following tools and technologies: Cobol, CICS, IMS, JCL, Hogan, MQ, Oracle, File-manager, CA7, REXX, Endevor, CI/CD tools, TSO/ISPF, and MVS.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering and 5 years (progressive, post-baccalaureate) of experience analyzing user requirements and defining functional specifications using agile methodologies.
  • 24 months of experience with each of the following: (1) developing and implementing complex mainframe applications using Cobol, DB2, VSAM, JCL, CICS, MQ; (2) participating in project planning sessions with concerned stakeholders to analyze business requirements and outline the proposed IT solutions; (3) enhancing the applications using Endevor, TSO/ISPF, and CA7; (4) developing and implementing test validations of the applications, including Unit testing, SIT and UAT testing; (5) utilizing the following tools and technologies: Cobol, CICS, IMS, JCL, MQ, Oracle, File-manager, CA7, REXX, Endevor, CI/CD tools, TSO/ISPF, and MVS.
  • 15 months of experience working with Hogan.
