About the position

We are looking for a Senior 2 Mobile Engineer to join our team. You will help push forward mobile engineering initiatives and growth opportunities on behalf of our mobile and web developers. You will also work as part of a cross-functional pod to find elegant solutions to mental healthcare's many problems. Additionally, you will help guide the growth of other engineers as a senior member. The Member Experience Engineering team builds the web and mobile experiences that Spring Health members use to access care. We blaze trails with green field innovation, iterate rapidly on feature roadmaps, and optimize the experiences to reduce friction. This particular role is a unique opportunity to make an impact in the area of Specialty Care - treating members and their families with difficult challenges such as substance use, severe depression, trauma and eating disorders. Please note that this is a hybrid role based in New York City, with an expectation to be in office 2-3 days a week. Our office is located at 60 Madison Avenue.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and maintain Flutter-based features across iOS and Android
  • Contribute to architecture, code quality, and design standards for mobile and cross-platform development.
  • Collaborate closely with Product, Design, and Backend teams to deliver cross-functional solutions (e.g., push notifications, multi-platform flows).
  • Contribute to and evolve our mobile design system in Flutter.
  • Identify and advocate for improvements in app performance, scalability, and developer experience.
  • Mentor engineers and elevate the mobile team through code reviews, pairing, and knowledge sharing.
  • Collaborate with and become a role model for mobile development

Requirements

  • 8+ years of professional development experience
  • 5+ years of professional mobile development experience
  • Strong foundation in mobile architecture and lifecycle across any platform (eg, Flutter widgets, RN Metro bundler, etc)
  • Proven track record implementing production mobile apps with robust, maintainable, and testable code
  • Strong understanding of good API and GraphQL design, and secure data handling in mobile environments
  • Experience with testing frameworks (unit, widget, integration) and automated CI/CD for mobile
  • Strong leadership and mentorship skills
  • Comfortable working on an agile team and curious about learning new things
  • Embraces writing well designed tests that accompanies all code
  • Enjoys coaching & growing engineers, and participating in pair programming
  • Participation in an on-call rotation and helping maintain high system reliability

Nice-to-haves

  • Bonus points for experience in cross-platform frameworks (eg, Flutter, React Native, etc)
