Senior Software Engineer, Interoperability

About the position

As a Senior Software Engineer on Zocdoc's Interoperability team, you'll own end-to-end interoperability platform initiatives-from initial scoping and architecture to deployment and ongoing optimization. Working closely with Product, Product Analytics, and other cross-functional engineering teams, you'll design scalable solutions that bring healthcare data together under one seamless ecosystem. By building a robust platform, you'll empower millions of patients and providers to easily access and exchange healthcare information, directly advancing Zocdoc's mission to put power in the hands of the patient.

Responsibilities

• Leading the development and rollout of robust interoperability platform features from concept to production, ensuring stable, scalable, and secure data flows across the healthcare ecosystem
• Collaborating with Product, Product Analytics, and cross-functional engineering teams building new healthcare products on top of our interoperability platform, delivering impactful solutions to patients and providers
• Leading architectural discussions and participating in code reviews to maintain high engineering standards
• Mentoring junior engineers, providing thoughtful feedback and fostering a learning environment

Requirements

• 5+ years of backend development experience designing and delivering APIs, ETL workflows, or microservices at scale
• A deep understanding of system design, data modeling, and performance optimization
• Demonstrated experience building user facing systems that scale
• A solution-oriented mindset-you can find creative ways to integrate with external systems, even when standard APIs aren't available
• Demonstrated mentorship experience, having guided others in code reviews, architecture, and development best practices.
• Advanced communication skills-you keep stakeholders in the loop and tailor your approach to different audiences
