About the Role: As a Senior Software Engineer, you will take ownership of key systems powering Quizlet’s identity, messaging, and trust infrastructure. You’ll design and implement scalable authentication, consent, and compliance solutions that ensure our millions of learners can connect safely and confidently. You’ll collaborate closely across engineering, security, and product to embed privacy and reliability into our platform. We’re happy to share that this is an onsite position in our San Francisco office. To help foster team collaboration, we require that employees be in the office a minimum of three days per week : Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday and as needed by your manager or the company. Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend or platform engineering experience in production systems.
  • Strong experience with Node.js , Go, Python, or TypeScript.
  • Familiarity with OAuth2, SSO, MFA, and privacy frameworks (e.g., GDPR, COPPA).
  • Proven ability to deliver complex features end-to-end.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver backend services for authentication and account lifecycle management.
  • Scale consent and messaging systems to meet new product and regulatory needs.
  • Lead initiatives that enhance reliability, observability, and performance.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with security, legal, and marketing teams.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.
