About the position

Unlearn’s products provide AI-powered clinical trials that generate high-quality evidence in less time. Software engineers in our platform teams are responsible for ensuring the software systems that support the delivery of our products are reliable and consistent. They need to develop and maintain robust tools and flexible pipelines that can adapt to the rapid development environment of our data and generative AI technologies. You will be part of an experienced team focused on identifying and solving challenging engineering problems.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and develop Unlearn’s proprietary software tools that are used across our machine learning systems at a production level
  • Design and develop reliable and scalable software systems - you will be building infrastructure that supports organizations company-wide including data products, machine learning, and biostatistics research
  • Demonstrate software engineering best practices and be an ambassador for excellence
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams that include scientists, engineers, and statisticians
  • Examples of production-level tools to be scaled and maintained: Our in-house data interchange format, a custom matrix library

Requirements

  • Fluency in Python and familiarity with its essential data science tools (numpy, pandas)
  • 4+ years in a related role
  • Track record of taking the initiative, demonstrating complete ownership, and delivering solutions to complex problems.
  • Experience contributing to software libraries under active development
  • Experience designing and implementing cloud-based software systems (preferably AWS)
  • Experience or interest in working with multidisciplinary teams that include scientists, engineers, and statisticians.
  • Familiarity with developing and maintaining machine learning systems
  • B.S. (advanced preferred) or related degree in a quantitative discipline.
  • Able to come into either our San Francisco office at least two days a week
