About the position

As a Software Performance Engineer at AvidXchange Inc., you are an integral member of the Software Engineering team. The primary focus of the position is to work closely with the software development and operations teams to ensure optimal performance of the existing and the new applications. Position is required to continuously evaluate the performance testing process and explore opportunities for further optimization. Bring your expertise to the table to collaborate, analyze, design, develop, test, maintain and implement premier software. You will also to mentor new team members to foster their career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Working across multiple Agile teams in a large enterprise environment, collaborating with experienced engineers, architects, and stakeholders to deliver full life cycle application development and testing.
  • Building open communication with your Product Owner, Quality Test Automation Engineers, fellow Software Engineers, Development DBA to understand and transform requirements into effective performance testing.
  • Create automated scripts and perform load tests to validate system performance and stability, while maintaining test scripts in Git and integrating performance tests into CI/CD pipelines for continuous validation.
  • Analyze test results, troubleshooting, and solving performance problem.
  • Collaborating with Software Engineers, DBAs, Software Architects in the design, review, and implementation of new solutions to meet software performance objectives.
  • Create and maintain monitoring dashboards to track key performance metrics, including response time, throughput, error rates, infrastructure usage, database performance, and user experience insights, enabling proactive performance management and SLA adherence.
  • Team up with developers early in the development cycle to implement shift-left performance testing, ensuring performance is built into the application from the start.
  • Monitor, evaluate system performance and recommend performance improvement.
  • Identify trends and anomalies through monitoring tool such as Dynatrace/App Insight to analyze and keep track of performance history across system.
  • Assist with production incidents, troubleshooting and provide root cause analysis.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related.
  • Broad performance engineering experience (modeling, tuning, diagnostics, monitoring, etc.).
  • Broad performance engineering tool experience (Wily, Compuware, Dynatrace, LoadRunner, etc.).
  • 7+ years of software performance engineering and testing experience.
  • Ability to lead testing projects of all sizes.
  • Understand software development life cycle and process.
  • Troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 3 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deliver concepts and tools.
  • Experience in LoadRunner, JavaScript, Dynatrace, Azure App Insights.
