We are actively seeking passionate, collaborative, energetic, and forward-thinking individuals to join our team. We are looking to add a Senior Spacecraft Systems Engineer II to our team. If you enjoy working in a startup environment and are passionate about developing leading-edge phased arrays for satellites, spacecraft, and aerospace systems, we would like to hear from you. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in system engineering, experience in space technology, and the ability to be the technical point of contact for a spacecraft architecture trades and subsystem requirement development. You will coordinate activities across multidiscipline engineering teams, raise issues at the program level, and help drive complex programs to success. Your work will have a direct impact on the success of the company. You will work closely with the engineering team, program management to ensure the successful build and launch of our satellite. Element will be the largest, most powerful rideshare satellite in LEO. We’re launching eight of them in the next four years, starting with our first launch this year. Together, our small team will design, build, and iterate to reduce mass and cost while increasing performance, reliability, and manufacturability of a new generation of satellites. Let’s build!

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical engineering preferred)
  • A minimum of 6 years of experience with emphasis in spacecraft design
  • Practical experience with space vehicle electrical power subsystems
  • Experience with a requirements management tool such as DOORS or Jama
  • Excellent written and verbal technical communication skills.
  • Ability to define work direction, track milestones, and demonstrate progress on large open-ended projects.
  • Sense of urgency, with the ability to work well under pressure.
  • The ability to work well with multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

  • Enable and ensure mission success through the tools, mindset, and processes of systems engineering.
  • Evaluate customer and operational needs to define requirements, integrate technical parameters, and ensure compatibility of all physical, functional, and program interfaces.
  • Decompose system requirements to applicable spacecraft subsystems
  • Conduct space vehicle architecture trades
  • Develop space vehicle concept of operations (CONOPS)
  • Collaborate with the program management team to support project scheduling and coordination.
  • Participate in development of system engineering processes for requirements management, flow down, and traceability.
  • Perform risk analysis and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may impede the progress of engineering teams.
  • Foster a culture of efficiency and continuous improvement within our programs.
