About The Position

Here at Scout Motors, we're carrying forward the heritage of one of the most iconic American vehicles in history. A vehicle dating back to 1960. One that forged the path for future generations of rugged SUVs and trucks and will do so once again. But Scout is more than just a brand, it’s a legacy steeped in a culture of exploration, caretaking, and hard work. The Scout brand is all about respect. Respect for the past and the future by taking an iconic American brand that hasn’t been around for a while, electrifying it, digitizing it, and loading it with American innovation. Respect for communities by creating a company that stands for its people and its customers. Respect for both work and play, with vehicles that are equally at home at a camp site, a job site, or on a Tuesday commute. And respect for our customers by developing two powertrains that meet their requirements — an all-electric powertrain as well as the Harvester™ range extender powertrain which includes a built-in gas-powered generator with an estimated 500 miles of combined range. At Scout Motors, we empower our talented, inclusive, and entrepreneurial teams to innovate. What makes a Scout employee? Someone who is a visionary and a leader, who seeks new paths and shares lessons learned. A knowledgeable doer who collaborates across the company to build better. A go-getter with unrivaled passion. Join us at Scout Motors and be part of shaping the future of transportation. If you're ready to drive change and make history, apply now! Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in structural crash CAE within an automotive OEM or Tier-1 supplier environment.
  • Hands-on experience with LS-DYNA.
  • Proficiency with CAE pre- and post-processing tools such as ANSA, Primer, HyperMesh, or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of global crash regulations and consumer safety protocols.
  • Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States without employer sponsorship.
  • Minimum of High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required for all roles at Scout Motors, Inc.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with electrified vehicles (BEV/REEV) and/or frame-based vehicle architectures.
  • Exposure to CAE–test correlation, DOE, or robustness studies.
  • Familiarity with advanced material or damage models (e.g., GISSMO).
  • Experience supporting OEM release and sign-off processes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform nonlinear structural crash simulations using LS-DYNA to support regulatory and consumer safety requirements, including FMVSS, USNCAP, IIHS, and Euro NCAP.
  • Conduct component-, subsystem-, and full-vehicle-level crash analyses to evaluate structural performance, load paths, intrusion, and energy management.
  • Develop, maintain, and execute finite element models using industry-standard CAE tools (e.g., ANSA, Primer, HyperMesh).
  • Support correlation of CAE results with physical crash and component test data, including post-test analysis and root-cause investigations.
  • Identify structural performance gaps and support engineering countermeasure development in collaboration with Body, Vehicle Safety, and Manufacturing teams.
  • Execute simulations using high-performance computing (HPC) resources while ensuring model quality, repeatability, and documentation.
  • Support vehicle development milestones, design releases, and safety sign-off activities.
  • Participate in cross-functional technical reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of crash CAE methods and processes.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers, as appropriate.
  • Ensure that crash-driven structural countermeasures are reviewed for NVH and durability robustness in collaboration with NVH and Durability engineering teams.
  • Support assessment of local stiffness changes, reinforcements, and joints to avoid unintended impacts to noise, vibration, or long-term structural durability.
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions to ensure balanced vehicle performance, meeting crash, NVH, and durability requirements without unintended trade-offs
