About The Position

We have an immediate opening for a Senior Staff Accountant to join our Corporate Finance team, based in the Downtown Houston office. As a key player in the team’s operations, this individual should be conscientious about their role and possess a strong “can-do” customer service attitude. This role is a hybrid position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum of 7-9 years’ experience in an accounting role
  • Advanced knowledge of accounting principles
  • Experience working within a dynamic multi-country team in a professional services firm
  • Good working knowledge of tax rules and regulations with the ability to apply these rules to transactions in a professional services firm
  • A strong passion for working with tax related items
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, establish priorities and organize efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Exceptional oral/written communication skills with ability to interact professionally with diverse groups
  • Proficient in MS Office Suites – Advanced Excel
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (oral/written) is required to effectively translate complex business documents and facilitate meetings with diverse international teams

Responsibilities

  • Review US tax returns and related reports to ensure compliance with all federal, state, local tax statues, R&D tax study and regulations by working with external tax consultants to properly interpret tax laws and regulations
  • Oversee international tax and compliance procedures, and ensure that appropriate internal controls are in place and documented for tax compliance for the following jurisdictions: Canada, Latin America, United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand
  • Oversees transfer pricing process and for international subsidiaries
  • Reviews accounting records ensuring tax transactions are recorded accurately in financial systems
  • Research and implementation of tax processes, and makes appropriate recommendations from a tax perspective
  • Manages tax disputes and resolutions, including audits
  • Reviews preparation of audit work papers for external auditors related to tax compliance
  • Mentors other Finance Team personnel on priority projects and other areas of accounting
  • Communicates frequently with CFO, Controller and Assistant Controller
  • Manages Staff Accountant(s) for Latin America
  • Ad hoc financial analysis projects
  • Review and/or prepare complex account reconciliations and journal entries
