About The Position

Renesas Electronics is searching for a hands-on AI Compiler Engineer who thrives at the convergence of cutting-edge AI, compiler tech, and hardware design. Here, you’ll not only architect and scale a production-class AI compiler toolchain, but also rethink how AI automates, optimizes, and accelerates every step of building and deploying neural networks on Renesas SoCs. You’ll work shoulder-to-shoulder with visionary engineers—both human and AI—enabling adaptive compilers that learn, evolve, and redefine what’s possible for embedded intelligence. With a relentless focus on hardware-software co-design, you’ll collaborate across teams to translate high-level AI models into blazing-fast, energy-efficient executables, unlocking the full potential of our silicon for real-world impact. Innovation here isn’t a catchphrase—it’s your everyday.

Requirements

  • MS/PhD (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, EE, or related field
  • Hands-on experience with compilers, AI systems, or high-performance software, and a genuine interest in using AI to enhance engineering productivity and drive innovation.
  • Comfortable coding in C/C++ and Python, able to contribute to established codebases, and open to collaborating with teammates and AI agents.
  • Understanding of machine learning models, computational graphs, and operator concepts, with a willingness to learn how AI can support and streamline processes.
  • Familier with compiler frameworks (TVM, MLIR, LLVM, etc.) or proprietary stacks, and interest in learning how to extend their features with AI-driven approaches.
  • General knowledge of CPU/GPU/accelerator architecture, memory systems, and optimization principles, with enthusiasm for working on hardware-software integration projects.
  • Creative problem-solver who enjoys tackling performance and correctness issues, including those identified by AI-powered analysis tools.
  • Effective communicator and team player who is comfortable collaborating in cross-functional environments with engineers and AI copilots.

Responsibilities

  • Develop an AI compiler toolchain, working with AI agents to map neural networks onto Renesas SoC platforms.
  • Creating and testing new graph transformations, lowering, scheduling, and code generation methods for CPUs and custom accelerators, using insights from AI-powered analytics.
  • Work on integrating popular AI frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, and ONNX, using AI agents to support new model architectures and operations more quickly.
  • Improve quantization, operator fusion, memory planning, and layout transformations, learning from both team members and AI-guided designs for better performance.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software architects, kernel developers, and AI agents to help co-design compiler and accelerator features, supporting alignment between silicon and code for greater efficiency.
  • Diagnose and crush performance bottlenecks with AI-enabled profiling and diagnostics, relentlessly tuning for latency, throughput, and power efficiency.
  • Level up validation, benchmarking, and regression pipelines by harnessing AI agents—ensuring compiler correctness and world-class performance, release after release.
  • Uplevel the developer experience by streamlining usability, diagnostics, and documentation—AI agents are your copilots for user support, troubleshooting, and rapid iteration.
