Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world. Raytheon is seeking a Sr Supervisor, Environmental Compliance, to join our dynamic team of EHS professionals. This position has overall responsibility for 3 wastewater treatment plants, site chemical/hazardous waste operations, and a team of 9 bargaining unit employees. This individual will lead the team in a fast paced and dynamic environment to ensure compliance by planning, organizing, and directing the daily work.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience
  • Full active Massachusetts wastewater treatment operator license (Grade 4-I/4-C or above)
  • 24-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Grade 6-C Massachusetts wastewater treatment operator license
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification
  • DOT - Hazmat transportation/shippers & generator certification
  • RCRA Training, Hazardous Materials Supervisor Course, or equivalent
  • Experience in managing in a union work environment
  • Experience with EH&S risks in a complex manufacturing facility
  • Knowledge of the operating characteristics and maintenance requirements of a wastewater treatment plant.
  • Knowledge of hydraulic, chemical, and mechanical principles pertinent to wastewater treatment plant operations.
  • Working knowledge of pumps, meters and flow charts.
  • Experience with applicable federal, state, and local laws, ordinances, and permitting requirements.
  • Ability to detect flaws in the operation of mechanical equipment and to determine proper remedial procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of three industrial wastewater treatment plants at the facility and serve as Chief Operator.
  • Lead the chemical, hazardous waste, and blood borne pathogen spill response teams.
  • Supervise, plan, and assign the work of waste treatment and chemical handlers.
  • Samples hazardous waste and wastewater as required, determines what parameters to sample for, and arranges sample shipments for offsite analysis
  • Prepare and obtain quotes for maintenance items, safety supplies, spare parts and equipment.
  • Assist production with setting up waste accumulation areas, including creation of waste profiles.
  • Participate in planning for current and future capacity needs and plant modifications for increased efficiency or regulatory compliance.
  • Recognize, evaluate, and control hazardous workplace conditions.
  • Work with subject matter experts to ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, local and company EHS requirements.
  • Support site’s environmental compliance programs, including, but not limited to, hazardous waste management, stormwater pollution prevention, air quality, wastewater, and toxic chemical management.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of sustainability practices and programs related to waste, water, energy, and greenhouse gases in alignment with business long-term goals.
  • Audit and evaluate current policies, procedures, and documentation to assure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Must be able to respond to emergencies after hours as needed
  • Position requires limited travel to Tewksbury and Marlborough to assist in Hazardous waste operations.
