The Senior Systems Design Engineer reports to the Vice President of Engineering and manages a team of engineers in the creation and execution of system designs, project implementation, quality assurance, bid and proposal, systems verification testing, and product/integration testing of security solutions for government contracts. The duties and responsibilities include the following: Systems Design Assess current systems designs and make recommendations to improve performance or implement established templates and standards Conduct site surveys of customer sites and plan and design system implementation Coordinates and conducts site surveys and technical implementation of systems at customer sites. Plan and Design system implementation according to customer requirements. Produce cost models, bills of materials, and field documentation as required. Create design details in accordance with the ISO and company process to provide a professional and detailed design for customers and ensure the successful implementation of design plans during deployment. Direct activities concerned with layout and design of electrical circuitry, surveillance systems, access control systems, and intrusion detection systems for internal and external use to ensure conformance with Statements of work, proposals, codes and safety regulations. Read, interpret, and create detailed schematics, wire diagrams and site plans. Interfaces with the customer NOC and SOC for communication and resolution Provides drawings and technical summaries to customer Network Architecture and Engineering (NAE) for system additions, and existing system optimization Project Implementation Provide systems engineering support, technical expertise and support direct interaction with customers. Monitor the development and deployment of national systems and provide installation support. Recommend solutions to installation and customer delivery problems Quality Assurance and Quality Control Systems Verification and Acceptance Planning and Testing Additional duties include communicating project status, deliverables, priorities, and contingencies. Participates in the development of installation and system standards as well as quality assurance and control of existing codes and developed standards. Directs modification of equipment to ensure operational performance meets specified standards and ensure technical superiority. May direct and coordinate installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment and systems in field installations to include performing the installation when required. Bid and Proposal Participates in Bid and Proposal system design, technical writing, cost development, and other assigned efforts. Product/Integration Testing Plan, analyze, design, implement, test, and troubleshoot systems. Read, interpret, and create detailed schematics, wire diagrams and site plans. Researches, develops, designs, and tests security components, equipment, and systems. Inspects, and directs testing and evaluation of security products related to contract and business requirements. Interacts with vendors for research, test, development efforts and installation support. Creates technology evaluation reviews for technology insertions on behalf of the company and customer Other Maintain a broad knowledge of state-of-the-art technology, equipment, and/or relevant systems. The engineer may lead working groups and must be able to perform independently and within groups. Creates, maintains, and helps with the renewal of any required system accreditation documentation Works to develop and maintain configuration management, continuity of operations and contingency planning on behalf of customers as required. Responsible for the management and assigned personnel. Other duties, as assigned.
